Purpose/Objective The Setting Head is responsible for overseeing and managing all environmental aspects of the cement manufacturing plant.

The role involves ensuring the plant complies with environmental regulations, standards, and sustainability practices.

The Environment Head will lead efforts to minimize the environmental impact of operations, improve resource utilization, and drive initiatives to promote environmental responsibility within the company

Key Responsibilities of Role

Environmental Compliance & Regulatory Management: Ensure full compliance with all local, national, and international environmental laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Monitor and manage environmental permits, ensuring the plant operates within the set environmental limits and reporting requirements.

Act as the key liaison with environmental regulatory agencies, coordinating required inspections and responding to environmental concerns or inquiries.

Air Quality and Emissions Control: Monitor and manage air emissions from cement production processes, ensuring compliance with air quality standards and reducing harmful emissions.

Implement strategies for controlling and minimizing emissions, such as optimizing kiln operations, dust collection systems, and air filtration technologies.

Water Management: Develop and implement effective water management strategies to reduce water consumption, optimize reuse, and minimize discharge.

Ensure that the plant’s water usage and wastewater management comply with environmental regulations and best practices.

Monitor water discharge quality and oversee the treatment and disposal of wastewater to ensure environmental safety and compliance with standards.





Waste Management and Recycling: Oversee the safe disposal, recycling, and treatment of waste generated by cement production, including hazardous and non-hazardous materials.

Develop and implement waste minimization strategies to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills, promoting recycling and resource recovery.

Sustainability Initiatives: Develop and implement sustainability programs and initiatives to reduce the environmental footprint of the plant.

Promote energy efficiency in cement production by optimizing energy use and incorporating renewable energy sources where feasible.

Environmental Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date environmental records, including permits, emissions data, water usage, waste disposal, and compliance reports.

Prepare and submit regular environmental reports to management, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Environmental Risk Management: Identify environmental risks, hazards, and potential areas of non-compliance within plant operations.

Conduct environmental impact assessments and risk evaluations to prevent environmental accidents and mitigate risks.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with other departments (e.

g.

, operations, maintenance, engineering)



to integrate environmental practices into daily plant operations.

Coordinate with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, environmental consultants, local communities, and environmental organizations, to align plant activities with broader environmental goals.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Stay updated with the latest developments in environmental regulations, technologies, and best practices related to cement production.

Lead and support research into new technologies, equipment, and processes that enhance environmental performance and sustainability in cement manufacturing.

Qualifications and Experience

Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Work Experience: 8-10 years of experience in environmental management, preferably in cement manufacturing, heavy industry, or a similar field.

Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of environmental laws and regulations related to air quality, water management, waste disposal, and occupational health and safety in industrial settings.
