About GrowthOS
GrowthOS is building the intelligence layer for AI agent journeys across docs, browser sessions, authentication, APIs, and MCP tools. We help teams understand how agents interact with their products, where they get stuck, and how to improve the journey from discovery to successful action.
About the Role
As a Founding Engineer, you’ll work directly with the founders to build GrowthOS’s core product and infrastructure. You’ll own projects from early design through production, make foundational architecture decisions, and work closely with customers.
We’re looking for someone with strong technical fundamentals, high agency, and comfort using agentic coding workflows to build and ship software.
What You’ll Do
- Build the core product: Ship features across data collection, journey analysis, and customer-facing dashboards.
- Develop backend systems: Build APIs, asynchronous services, background jobs, and integrations across browsers, authentication providers, and MCP tools.
- Own data pipelines: Ingest, normalize, and connect events across agent interactions, with reliable processing, retries, and backfills.
- Build full-stack experiences: Create responsive interfaces that make complex agent journeys easy to explore and debug.
- Own infrastructure: Deploy and operate services across AWS, Vercel, and RDS, balancing reliability, performance, and cost.
- Build with coding agents: Use agentic workflows for implementation, debugging, testing, and refactoring while taking responsibility for the code that ships.
- Shape engineering practices: Establish testing, CI/CD, observability,
and code review practices that help a small team move quickly.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Solid TypeScript and JavaScript skills, with experience building production applications using Node.js.
- Experience with React, Next.js, or similar frameworks, including frontend state management, data fetching, and performance.
- Experience designing REST APIs, webhooks, SDKs, and third-party integrations, including versioning, pagination, and rate limiting.
- Working knowledge of AWS, including services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, SQS, and CloudWatch, and deployments on Vercel.
- Strong PostgreSQL fundamentals: schema design, migrations, indexing, query optimization, transactions, and connection pooling.
- Experience with event-driven systems and data pipelines, including queues, asynchronous processing, idempotency, retries, and deduplication.
- Understanding of caching, concurrency, distributed systems, and failure recovery.
- Familiarity with authentication and authorization, including OAuth, API keys, session management, and secure handling of credentials.
- Experience with Docker, Git, CI/CD, and automated testing; familiarity with infrastructure as code is a plus.
- Ability to diagnose production issues using logs, metrics, and traces.
You don’t need experience with every tool listed, but you should have the fundamentals to learn quickly and make sound engineering decisions.
How You Work
- High agency: You take a loosely defined problem, gather the missing context, propose a path forward, and follow through without waiting for detailed instructions.
- Comfort with agentic coding: You can break work into well-scoped tasks, give coding agents useful context, and review and validate their output. You can debug the resulting code yourself.
- End-to-end ownership: You care about deployment, monitoring, and whether the feature solves the customer’s problem.
- Practical judgment: You know when to ship a simple solution and when reliability, security, or scale requires more work.
- Customer curiosity: You ask questions, test assumptions, and use feedback to decide what to build next.
- Clear communication: You surface blockers early and explain decisions and tradeoffs plainly.
Nice to Have
- Experience with MCP servers and clients, tool calling, agent orchestration, or evaluation systems.
- Experience with Playwright, Puppeteer, browser automation, or session instrumentation.
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, product analytics, or high-volume event processing.
- Experience building developer tools, SDKs, or observability platforms.
- Previous experience as an early engineer or building a product from scratch.
Compensation: Highly competitive base salary + 0.05%–0.5% ESOPs, depending on experience and scope of ownership.
