DevOps Engineer (AWS)
Location: Bangalore [Hybrid]
Experience: 5+ years
About the Role
Zeno is building the backend platform that powers our EV battery-swapping ecosystem — covering vehicle telemetry, swap station orchestration, wallet & payment transactions, and fleet partner management, all running on AWS across a set of containerized microservices. We're looking for a DevOps Engineer to own our infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and production reliability across staging and production environments.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure (ECS, RDS, SQS, SNS, S3, IAM, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, WAF, Route 53) supporting core backend microservices
- Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) for build, test, and deployment of containerized services to ECS, including ECR image management
- Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CloudFormation) for reproducible, version-controlled environments
- Administer and scale the Envoy Proxy layer for service-to-service communication and traffic management
- Set up and maintain observability — centralized logging (CloudWatch Logs), metrics, dashboards, and alerting for production services
- Manage and monitor Redis for low-latency live data serving, optimizing placement within the VPC to minimize cross-AZ data transfer costs
- Support ClickHouse cluster operations — data lifecycle policies (materialized views, TTLs), backups, and performance tuning for high-volume telemetry ingestion
- Own dead-letter queue (DLQ) monitoring and alerting for failed or incomplete transaction processing across SQS-based workflows
- Implement and enforce security best practices across the VPC — network segmentation, IAM least-privilege policies, secrets management, and WAF rules
- Manage environment promotion (stage → prod) and support blue/green or rolling deployment strategies with minimal downtime
- Collaborate with backend engineers to troubleshoot production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and improve system reliability
- Set up and maintain database backup, disaster recovery, and scaling strategies for RDS and ClickHouse
What you bring
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering roles
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services — ECS, RDS, SQS/SNS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, Route 53
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
- Proficiency in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, ECS/Kubernetes)
- Working knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Bash, or Node.js) for automation
- Understanding of networking fundamentals — VPCs, load balancers, DNS, security groups
- Experience with monitoring/observability tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar)
- Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and exposure to time-series/columnar databases (ClickHouse or similar)
- Strong troubleshooting and incident response skills
- Good communication and collaboration skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with service mesh/API gateway technologies (Envoy Proxy)
- Exposure to message queue systems (SQS, SNS, RabbitMQ) and DLQ handling patterns
- Experience with Redis or other in-memory caching systems
- AWS DevOps Engineer Professional or Sys-Ops Administrator certification (or equivalent)
- Experience working in regulated/financial systems requiring auditability
- Exposure to IoT/telemetry-heavy or high-throughput data platforms
What You'll Gain
- Ownership of infrastructure and deployment pipelines for a quick-growing EV mobility platform
- Exposure to a modern microservices architecture spanning telemetry, payments, and fleet management
- Opportunity to shape DevOps/SRE practices from the ground up
- Collaborative environment working closely with backend, frontend, and product teams
