Hirely is recruiting experienced Go Software Engineers on behalf of a hiring partner to help build datasets that teach AI agents to reason about real-world software codebases.

The project focuses on challenging codebase exploration and reasoning tasks involving production Go repositories. You’ll investigate large, unfamiliar codebases, understand how their subsystems behave at runtime, and create difficult engineering questions that require genuine system-level investigation.

The work may involve infrastructure-grade Go codebases including etcd, Traefik, Helm, Kustomize, CoreDNS, NATS Server, Temporal, Syncthing, restic, Authelia, BadgerDB, quic-go, gRPC-Go, Hugo, rclone, Trivy, cert-manager, and Pion WebRTC .

Key Responsibilities

- Select tasks from a pre-validated pool of Go repositories pinned to specific Git commits.
- Explore repositories until you genuinely understand the relevant subsystem, including related PR or issue history.
- Rewrite engineering questions so they challenge advanced coding agents while remaining well-defined and fairly answerable.
- Adjust rubrics and foils to reward correct reasoning and reject plausible but incorrect answers.
- Run the complete validation process in the project platform and iterate until every stage passes.
- Document your work in task READMEs.
- Submit tasks for expert review and address reviewer feedback on returned tasks.

Ideal Qualifications

- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with substantial production Go.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate large, unfamiliar Go codebases and explain how they behave at runtime.




- Strong understanding of: Go concurrency, Interfaces, Module boundaries, Go standard library, Generated code, Build tooling
- Experience with distributed systems, networking, storage engines, or Kubernetes-ecosystem tooling is highly relevant.
- Precise written English, as the questions and evaluation rubrics you create are the core deliverable.
- Comfortable working with Git at the commit level, containerized environments, and command-line tooling.
