To manage and develop a reliable supplier base, ensure timely sourcing of materials and services at competitive costs, and maintain the required quality and delivery standards to support uninterrupted production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supplier Development & Management
- Identify, evaluate and develop new suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery and capacity.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing suppliers.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and improvement activities.
- Develop alternate and backup suppliers for critical materials.
2. Sourcing & Cost Management
- Source raw materials, bought-out components, consumables, subcontracting and other requirements.
- Obtain and compare quotations and negotiate prices, payment terms and delivery schedules.
- Drive cost reduction through alternate sourcing, value engineering and supplier negotiations.
- Monitor market trends and material price movements.
3. Purchase Planning & Delivery
- Coordinate with Production, PPC, Quality and Stores to understand material requirements.
- Ensure timely availability of materials as per production requirements.
- Follow up with suppliers for order confirmation, dispatch and delivery.
- Take corrective action for delayed or critical supplies.
4. Supplier Quality
- Coordinate with Quality for supplier quality issues and corrective actions.
- Support supplier audits and capability assessments.
- Ensure suppliers comply with company quality requirements and specifications.
- Track and improve supplier rejection and PPM performance.
5. Commercial & Documentation
- Review purchase enquiries, quotations, purchase orders and commercial terms.
- Maintain sourcing records, supplier database and price history.
- Ensure compliance with approved supplier and procurement procedures.
6. Team & Process Management
- Lead and develop the sourcing/purchase team.
- Establish sourcing KPIs and monitor performance.
- Improve procurement processes and reduce lead time.
- Prepare MIS reports on cost savings, supplier performance, pending orders and delivery status.

Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Production / Supply Chain / Business Administration.
- MBA / PG qualification in Supply Chain or Procurement will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 8–15 years of experience in sourcing/procurement, preferably in manufacturing, engineering, auto components or casting industries.
- Strong experience in supplier development, cost negotiation and commercial management.
