Role Summary

The Credit Head will own the credit underwriting function for client ensuring sound credit decisions, healthy portfolio quality, and efficient turnaround times across secured and unsecured loan products.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and own the credit policy and underwriting guidelines across loan products

- Lead the credit appraisal process, ensuring quality decision-making within defined TAT

- Build and manage a team of credit managers/underwriters across branches/regions

- Conduct personal discussions, financial assessment, and risk evaluation for high-value/complex cases

- Coordinate with Risk and Collections teams to monitor early delinquency trends linked to underwriting quality

- Ensure adherence to RBI guidelines, KYC/AML norms, and internal credit policies in all approvals





- Review and refine credit scorecards, bureau checks, and fraud-check processes periodically

- Partner with the Business team to balance disbursement growth with portfolio quality

- Conduct periodic audits of credit files to ensure documentation and policy compliance

- Report credit quality metrics, approval/rejection trends, and portfolio health to leadership

Requirements & Qualifications

- Graduate/MBA/CA preferred

- 8+ years of experience in credit underwriting within an NBFC, Bank, or HFC

- Solid understanding of secured and unsecured lending credit norms and documentation

- Experience building/leading a credit team and managing multi-location underwriting

- Sound knowledge of RBI regulatory requirements relevant to credit and underwriting
