Job Summary

The Head of Department (HOD) is responsible for leading, managing, and developing the academic and administrative functions of the department. The role ensures high-quality teaching, effective curriculum delivery, faculty development, student performance, and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Leadership
- Plan, implement, and monitor academic programs as per curriculum and regulations
- Ensure effective teaching-learning processes and continuous improvement
- Oversee syllabus completion, lesson planning, and academic calendars
- Promote creative teaching methods and use of technology

Faculty Management
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate faculty members
- Conduct faculty meetings, reviews, and performance appraisals
- Identify training and development needs for faculty

Student Management
- Monitor student performance, attendance, and discipline




- Address student grievances and provide academic guidance
- Encourage student participation in projects, competitions, and co-curricular activities
- Support placement, internships, and career development initiatives

Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepare departmental budgets, reports, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with university, accreditation, and regulatory norms
- Coordinate with other departments and management
- Maintain departmental records and data

Research & Development (if applicable)
- Promote research, publications, and industry collaboration
- Encourage faculty and students to undertake projects and innovation
- Support seminars, workshops, and conferences

Quality Assurance
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and continuous improvement practices
- Support audits, inspections, and accreditation processes
- Implement institutional policies and procedures
