Role & responsibilities
1. Achieve Production Targets
- Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly production plans are achieved as per customer requirements.
- Monitor production schedules and take corrective actions to meet delivery commitments.
2. Improve Quality Performance
- Monitor weld quality and ensure adherence to quality standards, control plans, and customer specifications.
- Reduce rejection, rework, and welding defects through effective process control and problem-solving initiatives.
3. Enhance Productivity
- Optimize manpower allocation, machine utilization, cycle time, and line balancing.
- Drive improvements in line efficiency and overall productivity.
4. Ensure Safety & Compliance
- Implement and enforce safety standards, statutory regulations, and company policies within the weld shop.
- Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
5. Drive Cost Reduction Initiatives
- Control welding consumable usage and minimize wastage.
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and implement cost-saving projects to enhance operational efficiency.
6. Ensure Equipment Reliability
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure maximum machine uptime.
- Monitor preventive and predictive maintenance activities to avoid production disruptions.
7. Team Development & Leadership
- Train, mentor, and develop supervisors, technicians, and operators.
- Build technical competencies and leadership capabilities within the team.
8. Lead Continuous Improvement Programs
- Drive Kaizen, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and ensure successful implementation.
9. Focus on Customer Satisfaction
- Support recent product development, trial runs, and PPAP activities.
- Ensure timely resolution of customer concerns and quality issues.
10. Monitor and Review Performance
- Review key performance indicators (KPIs) including:
- Production Achievement
- OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
- PPM (Parts Per Million)
- Rework and Rejection Levels
- Safety Performance
- Delivery Adherence
- Prepare and present performance reports to management and recommend improvement actions.
Preferred candidate profile
8 to 15 years of experience in automotive/manufacturing production.
Minimum 5 years of experience in managing Weld Shop operations.
Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, and IATF 16949 requirements preferred
