JOB SUMMARY

The Laboratory In-Charge is responsible for the overall supervision and effective functioning of the hospital laboratory, ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable laboratory services while maintaining quality, safety, and compliance with hospital policies and applicable standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Laboratory Department.
- Allocate duties and prepare duty rosters for laboratory staff.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of laboratory tests and reporting of results.
- Monitor sample collection, identification, handling, storage, and disposal.
- Ensure proper functioning, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain adequate stock of reagents, consumables, and other laboratory supplies.
- Coordinate with Purchase, Stores, Pharmacy, Nursing, OPD, IP, ICU, Emergency, and other departments.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of laboratory records and registers.
- Monitor quality control procedures and take corrective action when required.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, biomedical waste management, and laboratory safety protocols.
- Verify and monitor critical and abnormal results and ensure timely communication to the concerned doctor.
- Supervise laboratory staff performance, discipline, attendance, and training.




- Handle patient and doctor queries related to laboratory services professionally.
- Coordinate with external/reference laboratories when tests are outsourced.
- Report equipment breakdowns, shortages, incidents, and other issues to the management.
- Participate in audits, inspections, quality improvement activities, and hospital accreditation requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory reports.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Hospital Management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- B.Sc./M.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory is preferred.
- Good knowledge of laboratory procedures, quality control, safety, and documentation.
- Basic computer and laboratory information system (LIS) skills.
- Good communication, leadership, coordination, and team-management skills.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
