Job Description – Mechanical Foreman

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities in the plant.

- Lead a team of fitters, technicians and contract manpower for maintenance jobs.

- Carry out preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.

- Handle maintenance of pumps, gearboxes, compressors, agitators, conveyors, boilers, dryers, distillation equipment, fermentation equipment and other rotating/static equipment.

- Monitor equipment condition and ensure timely identification and rectification of mechanical problems.

- Execute planned maintenance activities as per maintenance schedules.

- Ensure proper alignment, lubrication, replacement and repair of mechanical components.

- Coordinate with Production and other departments for smooth execution of maintenance activities.

- Ensure availability of required tools, spares and manpower for maintenance jobs.

- Maintain maintenance records, job cards and equipment history.

- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and use of appropriate PPE during maintenance activities.





- Support shutdown/turnaround maintenance and major equipment overhauling.

- Monitor quality and workmanship of maintenance jobs carried out by technicians and contractors.

- Report breakdowns, maintenance status and pending jobs to the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer/HOD.

Candidate Profile

- Diploma / ITI in Mechanical Engineering preferred.

- 8–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in ethanol, distillery, chemical, power or process manufacturing plants.

- Strong hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.

- Positive knowledge of rotating equipment, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors and process equipment.

- Ability to supervise manpower and independently handle maintenance activities.

- Good understanding of industrial safety practices.

- Willingness to work in shifts and attend breakdown/emergency maintenance as required.
