Application Question(s):
- Walk me through the complete process of deploying Linux patches using IBM BigFix in your current environment.
- Starting from the BigFix Console, explain exactly how you create and deploy a BigFix Action
- How does BigFix determine whether a patch is Relevant, Needed, or Not Relevant?
- Forget the baseline for a moment. A RHEL server is missing a security package, but the corresponding BigFix Fixlet shows Not Relevant. How would you troubleshoot why the Fixlet is not relevant?
- Have you personally written or modified a BigFix Relevance statement? Give me an example.
- Have you personally created or modified a BigFix Action Script? Give me an example of what the Action did and how you tested it.
- Tell me about one Fixlet you personally created or modified. What was the relevance condition, what did the action execute, and how did you validate it?
- A BigFix Action succeeds on 900 RHEL servers but fails on 100. Walk me through exactly what you check in BigFix and then on the Linux servers.
- A RHEL server fails to boot after the kernel patch and the Linux team is unavailable. You own the incident. Walk me through exactly what you do and give me the commands you would use.
- An AIX server fails after a BigFix patch. Walk me through your recovery process, including the AIX commands and boot/recovery mechanism you would use.
- You inherit 10,000 RHEL and AIX endpoints and an existing BigFix environment. What BigFix components would you inspect first, and how would you determine whether the relay architecture, clients, repositories and reporting are healthy?
- You start Monday and the client says BigFix patch compliance is 82%. You own it. What are the first five things you investigate?
- Explain the BigFix architecture and the role of the Root Server, Relay, Client, Web Reports, and Inventory.
- Describe your RHEL patching process from patch release through production deployment.
- What Linux commands do you typically use before and after patching to verify a successful deployment?
