About the role

Expert Resourcing is hiring an experienced Structural Steel Fabrication Fitter for a structural steel and heavy-engineering employer in Sahibabad, Ghaziabad. You will independently interpret fabrication drawings, identify members and connections, and complete accurate fit-up of complex steel assemblies before final welding.

This is a full-time, on-site workshop role for a fitter who can work from general arrangement drawings and detailed shop drawings with minimal supervision.

What you will do

- Read and understand structural fabrication drawings, general arrangement drawings and detailed shop drawings.
- Mark, measure and fit structural steel members according to drawing dimensions and specifications.
- Fabricate and assemble beams, columns, trusses, frames, bracings and other complex structures.
- Fit base plates, gusset plates, cleats, stiffeners, brackets and connection plates.
- Establish angles, levels, diagonals, centre lines, hole positions and member orientation accurately.
- Carry out cutting, grinding, drilling and edge preparation as required.
- Complete fit-up and tack welding before releasing assemblies for final welding.
- Check dimensions, alignment, squareness and tolerances before handover.
- Identify individual components from drawings and position them correctly in each assembly.
- Coordinate with welders,



supervisors and quality-control personnel.
- Minimise fabrication errors, rework and material waste.
- Follow workshop safety and quality procedures.

You may be a good fit if you

- Have 4–5 years of hands-on structural steel fabrication and fitting experience.
- Can independently interpret complex fabrication drawings and translate them into accurate fit-up work.
- Have strong practical knowledge of measuring tape, steel rule, try square, spirit level, bevel or protractor, marking tools, grinder, gas cutting and fabrication equipment.
- Can work accurately to dimensions, alignment requirements and fabrication tolerances.
- Understand safe workshop practices and take responsibility for the quality of your own fit-up.

Preferred experience

- Heavy structural fabrication or industrial structures.
- Pre-engineered buildings or heavy-engineering fabrication.
- Trusses, frames or other multi-member structural assemblies.
- Fit-up involving multiple plates, stiffeners, cleats and connection points.

Practical selection criterion

The most significant part of the selection process is practical drawing interpretation. You should be able to review a complex fabrication drawing, identify the members and connections, mark the components, establish the required dimensions and complete the structural fit-up accurately with minimal supervision.
