Job Title: Structural Steel Estimator – US Projects

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to support our US-based structural steel fabrication projects.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in structural steel quantity takeoffs, estimating, fabrication and construction drawings, with the ability to independently interpret drawings and develop accurate material and labor estimates.

Candidates with US structural steel project experience and familiarity with AISC standards and US fabrication practices will be strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform detailed structural steel quantity takeoffs from engineering and construction drawings.
- Review architectural, structural and fabrication drawings.
- Identify structural steel members, plates, connections, bolts, welds and miscellaneous steel.
- Prepare accurate material quantity / weight takeoffs.
- Develop estimates for structural steel fabrication and erection.
- Review project specifications, plans and scope of work.
- Identify missing information, discrepancies, design changes and potential estimating risks.
- Coordinate with engineers, detailers, fabricators and project managers.
- Review fabrication and erection requirements from an estimating perspective.
- Support preparation of bids, proposals and commercial estimates.
- Use engineering judgment and creative problem-solving to identify efficient fabrication and construction approaches.




- Maintain accuracy and documentation of estimates.

Mandatory Requirements

1. Structural Steel Experience

- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in structural steel estimating/takeoffs.
- Solid understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection.
- Practical/field exposure to structural steel construction is highly preferred.

2. Drawing & Plan Reading

Candidate must be able to independently read and interpret:

- Structural drawings
- Architectural drawings
- Engineering plans
- Shop/fabrication drawings
- Erection drawings
- Structural details and connection drawings

3. Steel Takeoff

Strong practical knowledge of:

- Beams
- Columns
- Channels
- Angles
- HSS / tubes
- Plates
- Bracing
- Stairs
- Handrails
- Miscellaneous metals
- Bolts and connections
- Welds

4. US Project Knowledge – Preferred

Candidates with experience in US structural steel projects will be strongly preferred.

Knowledge of:

- AISC standards
- US structural steel practices
- US fabrication terminology
- US construction drawings
- US measurement/estimating practices
- Structural steel shop and erection processes
