Position: Production Supervisor
Department: Production
Reporting To: Production Manager / Plant Head
Location: Glass Processing Plant
1. Job Purpose
To supervise and control day-to-day production activities, ensuring that production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and as per required quality standards and delivery schedules.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Production Planning & Execution
- Plan and execute daily/shift-wise production as per the production plan.
- Achieve production targets within the given time and available resources.
- Allocate manpower, machines and workstations according to production requirements.
- Ensure smooth production flow and minimum downtime.
- Monitor hourly production against the planned target.
- Take immediate action in case of production delays or bottlenecks.
B. Manpower Management
- Allocate operators/workers to different machines and operations.
- Monitor attendance, manpower utilization and productivity.
- Guide and train operators regarding production methods and work instructions.
- Ensure proper discipline and work practices on the shop floor.
- Identify manpower requirements and communicate them to the Production Manager.
C. Quality Control
- Ensure production is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications and work instructions.
- Coordinate with the Quality Department for in-process and final quality requirements.
- Ensure defective material is identified, segregated and not passed to the next process.
- Monitor rejection and rework on a daily basis.
- Take corrective action to reduce recurring production-related defects.
D. Machine & Process Control
- Ensure machines are operated according to defined process parameters.
- Monitor machine performance and report breakdowns to Maintenance.
- Coordinate with Maintenance for timely machine breakdown resolution.
- Ensure proper setup, tooling and process conditions before starting production.
- Minimize machine idle time and production losses.
E. Production Records & Reporting
- Maintain daily/shift-wise production records.
- Prepare production achievement reports.
- Record production, rejection, rework, downtime and manpower data.
- Monitor production efficiency and productivity.
- Report production issues, delays and abnormal conditions to the Production Manager.
F. Safety & 5S
- Ensure workers follow all safety rules and use required PPE.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and 5S on the shop floor.
- Ensure safe operation of machines and equipment.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, accidents or near-miss incidents.
- Promote a secure and disciplined working environment.
G. Continuous Improvement
- Identify process losses, bottlenecks and unnecessary activities.
- Work on reducing rejection, rework, downtime and material wastage.
- Suggest improvements in productivity and process efficiency.
- Support Kaizen, 5S and other continuous improvement activities.
- Monitor and improve line productivity.

4. Required Skills
- Good knowledge of manufacturing and production processes.
- Ability to manage manpower and shop-floor activities.
- Basic knowledge of quality control and rejection analysis.
- Ability to read production plans, drawings and work instructions.
- Knowledge of machines, tools and manufacturing processes.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Basic knowledge of Excel and production reporting.
- Good communication and team-management skills.
- Ability to work in shifts when required.
5. Qualification & Experience
Qualification: ITI / Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Automobile or relevant field.
Experience: 2–7 years of experience in manufacturing/production, preferably with glass line supervisory experience.
6. Authority & Responsibility
- Allocate manpower and work according to the production plan.
- Monitor and control production activities on the shop floor.
- Escalate quality, machine, manpower and material issues.
- Hold production when a serious safety or quality issue is identified, as per company procedure.
- Ensure all production activities are completed according to company standards and procedures.
