Project Manager
About the Role
Elkanio is looking for an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of planning, coordinating, and delivering technology projects from initiation through successful completion.
You will work closely with clients, product teams, developers, QA, UI/UX, DevOps, and leadership to ensure projects are delivered within agreed scope, timelines, quality expectations, and business objectives.
The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience in software project management or delivery management, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to understand technical discussions and translate business requirements into actionable delivery plans.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong ownership, proactive communication, structured planning, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced technology environment.
What You'll DoProject Ownership & Planning
- Own assigned projects and initiatives from requirement gathering through delivery and production rollout.
- Understand project objectives, scope, requirements, timelines, dependencies, and expected outcomes.
- Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, schedules, and delivery trackers.
- Break down requirements into actionable workstreams and coordinate execution across teams.
- Track progress against milestones and proactively address deviations.
- Coordinate releases, UAT, deployments, and post-release activities.
- Ensure deliverables are completed within agreed scope, timelines, and quality expectations.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key point of contact for assigned clients and projects.
- Establish regular communication and reporting cadence with stakeholders.
- Lead client meetings, requirement discussions, sprint reviews, demos, and status calls.
- Clearly communicate project progress, risks, issues, dependencies, and upcoming milestones.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and proactively communicate changes or potential delays.
- Ensure client decisions and requirements are clearly understood and communicated internally.
- Build strong working relationships with technical and business stakeholders.
Requirement & Scope Management
- Work with clients and product stakeholders to understand and clarify business requirements.
- Coordinate with technical teams to translate requirements into actionable development tasks.
- Support backlog prioritization and release planning.
- Identify dependencies and gaps in requirements before development begins.
- Manage changes to scope and communicate their impact on timelines, resources, and delivery.
- Maintain clear visibility of agreed scope and approved changes.
- Work with Product Owners and technical teams to ensure requirements are ready for development.
Team & Delivery Management
- Coordinate development, QA,
UI/UX, DevOps, product, and other teams involved in delivery.
- Ensure teams have the required information and dependencies to execute their work.
- Track resource availability and highlight capacity or allocation constraints.
- Identify blockers and drive them toward resolution.
- Coordinate cross-team dependencies and ensure timely handoffs.
- Support teams in maintaining focus on sprint and release objectives.
- Escalate critical issues appropriately when leadership intervention is required.
Risk, Issue & Dependency Management
- Proactively identify and maintain visibility of project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
- Define mitigation actions with relevant stakeholders.
- Track issues through to closure and ensure clear ownership.
- Identify potential schedule, resource, technical, or scope risks early.
- Escalate critical risks and delivery concerns in a timely manner.
- Facilitate root-cause discussions for significant or recurring delivery issues.
- Maintain appropriate risk and issue registers.
Agile & Delivery Practices
- Work effectively with teams following Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Facilitate sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives where required.
- Track sprint commitments, velocity, blockers, and delivery outcomes.
- Work with Product Owners and engineering teams to maintain a prioritized backlog.
- Coordinate release planning and track release readiness.
- Identify opportunities to improve team processes, delivery predictability, and collaboration.
Reporting & Governance
- Prepare regular project status reports and management updates.
- Provide visibility into project health, milestones, progress, risks, issues, dependencies, and resource requirements.
- Track planned versus actual delivery timelines.
- Maintain project dashboards, trackers, action logs, and decision records.
- Provide concise and accurate updates to leadership and clients.
- Establish and maintain appropriate project governance and reporting practices.
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in software project management, delivery management, or a similar technology role.
- Proven experience managing software projects through the SDLC, from requirements through production.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Strong stakeholder and client management skills.
- Experience managing cross-functional technology teams.
- Strong planning, organization, prioritization, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, workstreams, and priorities simultaneously.
- Robust risk, issue, dependency, and scope management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Teams, Slack, or similar project management and collaboration tools.
- Good understanding of software development concepts, APIs, databases, testing, deployments, integrations, and production support.
- Ability to understand technical discussions and coordinate effectively with engineering teams.
- Strong ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
Technical Understanding
You don't need to be a developer, but you should be comfortable understanding and discussing:
- Frontend and backend development
- REST APIs and third-party integrations
- Database concepts and data flows
- QA, testing, UAT, and defect management
- Cloud environments and deployment processes
- Git and software development workflows
- Production releases and incident management
- Basic system architecture and technical dependencies
- Performance, scalability, and integration considerations
Bonus Points
- Experience working on B2B or B2C technology products.
- Experience in travel, hospitality, e-commerce, fintech, or other transaction-based domains.
- Experience managing projects involving third-party APIs and external integrations.
- Experience with payment gateways or booking platforms.
- Experience working with international clients or distributed teams.
- Technical background in software development, QA, business analysis, or engineering.
- Scrum Master, PMP, PRINCE2, or other relevant certification.
- Experience with delivery metrics, dashboards, and project reporting.
- Experience coordinating projects involving multiple teams, vendors, or external technology partners.
