About Us

Hermanos BPM Services provides engineering support to clients across the US and beyond, including permit-ready plan sets, QA review, and technical design services for solar, energy storage, and related industries. We're expanding our capabilities to support mechanical and product design work, including equipment enclosures and industrial product design.

About the Role

We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong 3D CAD and sheet-metal design experience to support enclosure and product design projects for our clients. This role covers the full lifecycle of physical product design — from concept and 3D modeling through manufacturing-ready drawings — for equipment such as electrical/battery enclosures, outdoor cabinets, and similar industrial hardware.

What You'll Do

- Design 3D mechanical assemblies using parametric CAD software (SolidWorks, Onshape, or equivalent)
- Develop sheet-metal enclosure designs, including flat-pattern unfolding, bend allowances, and fastener/hardware selection
- Design for manufacturing (DFM) — standardizing components, selecting appropriate materials and processes for cost-effective, repeatable production
- Engineer enclosures to meet environmental performance requirements such as weatherproofing (NEMA ratings), thermal insulation, and ventilation
- Design modular or knockdown assemblies for efficient shipping and field assembly where required
- Produce complete 2D fabrication drawings, assembly instructions, and bills of materials
- Collaborate with thermal/electrical engineers and clients to translate performance requirements into physical design specifications
- Support prototyping and revise designs based on testing feedback





Required Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience with 3D parametric CAD software (SolidWorks, Onshape, Inventor, Fusion 360, or similar)
- Strong understanding of sheet-metal design principles and manufacturing processes (forming, bending, welding, fastening)
- Ability to produce clean, accurate 2D fabrication drawings from 3D models
- Experience taking a design from concept through to production-ready documentation

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience designing outdoor or weatherproof equipment enclosures (NEMA-rated cabinets, electrical/battery housings, telecom equipment, industrial control panels)
- Familiarity with basic thermal design concepts (insulation sizing, ventilation/fan requirements) or willingness to coordinate closely with a thermal engineer
- Experience with structural considerations for outdoor-mounted equipment (wind/snow loading)
- Background in renewable energy, energy storage, or related industries
- Experience with knockdown/modular product design for shipping efficiency
