Premier Health Centre is looking for a skilled and patient-friendly Phlebotomist to join our laboratory/collection centre team.
Job Summary
The Phlebotomist will be responsible for accurate and safe blood and specimen collection, proper sample identification and handling, and providing a professional and courteous experience to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and blood sample collection using proper techniques.
- Collect urine, swab, and other specimens as per laboratory requirements.
- Verify patient identity and test requirements before collection.
- Ensure correct tube/container selection and proper sample labeling.
- Follow barcode and LIS procedures for sample registration and collection.
- Maintain sample integrity and ensure timely dispatch to the processing laboratory.
- Follow infection-control, biomedical waste, and safety procedures.
- Minimize patient discomfort and avoid unnecessary repeated pricking.
- Handle children, elderly patients, and difficult collections professionally.
- Respond politely to patient queries and coordinate with hospital/collection-centre staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and availability of phlebotomy consumables.
- Perform home/hospital sample collection when required.
- Report sample-related issues, patient complaints, or other incidents promptly to the supervisor.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.
Requirements
- Qualification: DMLT / MLT / B.Sc. MLT or relevant phlebotomy certification.
- Experience: Freshers and experienced candidates may apply.
- Good knowledge of blood and specimen collection procedures.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient-friendly attitude and professional behavior.
- Basic computer/LIS knowledge preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently during busy/peak hours.
- Willingness to work in shifts, if required.
- Candidates with hospital, diagnostic laboratory, collection centre, or home-collection experience will be preferred.
