About the Role
We are looking for a Backend Engineer to own and evolve our core integration platform. You
will be responsible for designing, building, and scaling event-driven microservices that
enable seamless communication between our IoT platform and multiple third-party vendor
ecosystems. In this role you will drive technical decisions, mentor engineers, and work
closely with product and architecture teams to deliver scalable, reliable backend systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop Cloud-Native Applications
• Design and build scalable applications for cloud platforms like:
o Amazon Web Services
o Microsoft Azure
o Google Cloud
• Develop microservices and distributed applications.
2. API Development & Integration
• Create and maintain REST APIs and backend services.
• Integrate cloud services, third-party APIs, and databases.
3. Serverless Application Development
• Build serverless applications using services such as:
o AWS Lambda
o Azure Functions
• Implement event-driven architectures.
• Own and extend the integration platform, enabling onboarding and unified control of
devices across multiple third-party vendor ecosystems
• Design and maintain event-driven architectures processing high-volume device events
(10K+ events/sec) via Kafka, MQTT, and cloud messaging services
• Build and enhance microservices for device state synchronization, ensuring lowlatency, reliable communication across distributed IoT systems
• Develop and maintain voice platform integrations (Alexa Smart Home, Google
Home) for device discovery and real-time control




• Implement and manage OAuth 2.0-based account linking and token lifecycle
management across third-party platforms
• Build scalable backend APIs for real-time dashboards to visualize device telemetry,
aggregating and serving device state data at scale
• Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and AWS
CodePipeline for automated build, test, and deployment workflows
• Collaborate with product managers, solution architects, and QA to ensure timely,
high-quality delivery
Must-Have Skills
• 5–8 years of professional backend engineering experience
• Robust proficiency in Python and exposure to Node.js with Typescript.
• Experience with event-driven architecture using Apache Kafka, MQTT, or similar
messaging systems
• Solid experience with RESTful API design and building scalable microservices
• Hands-on with cloud platforms - AWS (ECS, Lambda, S3, CodePipeline) or
GCP(App Engine, Cloud Run)
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, JWT, and secure authentication flows
• Proficiency with Docker and containerized deployments
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex production issues
across distributed services
Good-to-Have Skills
• Experience with IoT protocols (MQTT) and IoT platforms
• Familiarity with cloud messaging services (Google Pub/Sub, Azure Event Hub,
AWS SNS/SQS)
• Experience with voice assistant integrations (Alexa Smart Home, Google Home)
• Experience with Kubernetes based deployments
