About the Role

We’re looking for experienced U.S. lawyers with strong contract drafting, document review, and legal risk-assessment skills to contribute to a project focused on evaluating and improving AI systems.

You’ll review sample and template legal documents, identify potentially problematic provisions, conduct basic legal research, and explain legal concepts in clear language that non-lawyers can understand.

The work uses public or synthetic information only. No confidential, proprietary, privileged, or client-specific information should be submitted.

No prior AI experience is required. Your legal expertise, analytical judgment, and ability to communicate clearly are the core qualifications.

What You’ll Do

- Review sample contracts, templates, and other legal documents for clarity, enforceability, and potential legal risk.

- Identify and analyze problematic, ambiguous, or high-risk clauses.

- Provide clear written commentary explaining identified risks and relevant considerations.

- Prepare concise legal memos summarizing findings, key risk areas, and potential improvements.

- Conduct basic legal research using publicly available sources.

- Apply legal reasoning to document-review scenarios and explain the basis for your conclusions.

- Translate complex legal concepts into clear, accessible language for non-lawyer audiences.

- Follow confidentiality, data-handling, and conflict-of-interest requirements throughout the engagement.

- Work exclusively with public or synthetic data provided for the project.

Requirements

- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.





- Active or lapsed bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction.

- 4+ years of legal practice experience.

- Strong experience with document-heavy legal work, such as contracts, compliance, or transactions.

- Demonstrated expertise in contract drafting, contract review, and legal risk assessment.

- Robust legal research and analytical skills.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to explain legal concepts accurately to non-lawyers.

- Meticulous attention to detail and a methodical approach to legal analysis.

- Strong understanding of confidentiality obligations and conflicts of interest.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience handling complex commercial or transactional documents.

- Experience identifying contractual risks and proposing practical improvements.

- Experience preparing concise legal memoranda or written legal analysis.

- Background in technology, AI, legal operations, or legal technology.

- Interest in the application of AI to legal research, document analysis, or legal workflows.

- All engagement materials are public or synthetic.

- Do not submit confidential, proprietary, privileged, or client-identifying information.

- Do not use real client contracts, case files, or other restricted legal materials.

- Conflict-of-interest and confidentiality protocols must be followed throughout the engagement.

Compensation & Engagement

- Hourly rate: $80–$180/hour.

- Annual compensation equivalent: $166,400–$374,400 based on a 40-hour workweek.

- Independent contractor engagement.

- Actual earnings depend on hours worked and available project tasks.
