Manager Electrical design (MMH)

Location:- Kolkata (New Town)

Experience: - 5-10 Years in Metals, Minerals & Material Handling
Qualification:- Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering

Role Purpose

To design, develop, and coordinate electrical systems for metal, mineral processing, beneficiation, and material handling projects. The role involves detailed engineering, equipment selection, technical evaluations, interdisciplinary coordination, and support during project execution, testing, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare electrical system designs and engineering deliverables for mineral processing plants, material handling systems, and associated industrial facilities.
- Develop Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), load lists, electrical layouts, power distribution schemes, cable schedules, earthing and lighting layouts, and equipment installation drawings.
- Perform electrical design calculations, including transformer sizing, cable sizing, voltage drop analysis, load flow studies, short-circuit calculations, and UPS system sizing.
- Evaluate technical bids and conduct vendor assessments for electrical equipment such as transformers, motors, switchgear, MCCs, UPS systems, and other bought-out items.
- Review and validate electro-mechanical package engineering documents and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Review 3D models, plant layouts, and electrical equipment arrangements to ensure constructability, safety, accessibility, and efficient plant operation.
- Coordinate closely with process, mechanical, piping, civil & structural, instrumentation, and project engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable national and international codes, client specifications, safety standards, and EPC project requirements.
- Provide technical support during procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and plant startup activities.




- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, value engineering initiatives, and technical discussions with clients, consultants, and vendors.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of industrial power distribution systems and electrical engineering practices.
- Experience in design and engineering of HT/LT systems, substations, MCCs, transformers, motors, and UPS systems.
- Proficiency in electrical engineering software such as ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD, EPLAN, or equivalent tools.
- Familiarity with equipment selection, vendor document reviews, and technical bid evaluations.
- Positive understanding of 3D model review platforms such as Navisworks, SP3D, PDMS, or equivalent.
- Strong planning, coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Industry Experience

Candidates with experience in Mineral Processing Plants, Beneficiation Plants, Material Handling Systems, Steel Plants, Pellet Plants, Smelters, Alumina Refineries, Bulk Material Handling Facilities, or Heavy Industrial EPC Projects will be preferred.
