KEY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Electrical Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee day-to-day operation and maintenance of all plant electrical systems, including HT/LT switchgear, transformers, DG sets, motors, VFDs, and control panels.
- Plan and implement preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance schedules for electrical equipment to minimise unplanned production stoppages.
- Ensure timely maintenance of kiln drives, crusher motors, grinding mill drives, conveyor systems, dust-extraction fans and compressors.
- Maintain uninterrupted power supply and coordinate with the state electricity board / power distribution company for supply-related matters.
- Monitor equipment health through condition-monitoring tools (thermography, vibration analysis, insulation resistance testing) and initiate corrective action.
2. Team Leadership & Manpower Management
- Lead, supervise and mentor the electrical maintenance team, including engineers, shift electricians and instrumentation technicians.
- Prepare shift rosters and ensure adequate manpower coverage for round-the-clock plant operations.
- Conduct skill-development and safety-training sessions for electrical staff and contract workforce.
- Evaluate team performance, identify training needs, and recommend staffing or capability improvements to the Plant Head.
3. Safety, Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with the Indian Electricity Rules, Factories Act, and applicable State Electrical Inspectorate regulations.
- Maintain statutory records, licenses and certifications, and coordinate periodic inspections/audits by the Electrical Inspectorate.
- Enforce safe work practices such as Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO),
and use of appropriate PPE during electrical maintenance.
- Investigate electrical incidents/near-misses, prepare root-cause analysis reports, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure earthing systems, lightning protection and fire-safety systems for electrical installations are tested and maintained as per schedule.
4. Energy Management & Cost Control
- Monitor plant energy consumption, identify energy-saving opportunities, and drive initiatives to reduce specific power consumption per tonne of production.
- Track power factor, demand management and load optimisation to avoid penalties and reduce electricity costs.
- Prepare and control the annual electrical maintenance and capex budget, including spares inventory planning.
5. Project & Capital Equipment Support
- Plan and execute new electrical installations, capacity expansions, and equipment upgrades in coordination with the project team.
- Evaluate technical specifications and participate in vendor selection for electrical equipment, spares and services.
- Support commissioning of new machinery (kilns, crushers, mills, material-handling systems) and ensure smooth handover to operations.
6. Documentation, Reporting & Coordination
- Maintain up-to-date single-line diagrams, equipment history cards,
maintenance logs and spare-parts inventory records.
- Prepare and submit periodic (daily/weekly/monthly) reports on electrical equipment performance, breakdowns and maintenance activities to the Plant Head.
- Coordinate with Production, Mechanical, Instrumentation and Stores departments to align electrical maintenance with production schedules.
- Liaise with external agencies, contractors, OEMs and statutory authorities as required.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strong technical knowledge of HT/LT power systems, transformers, motors, VFDs, PLCs and industrial control systems.
- Sound understanding of statutory electrical safety requirements applicable to mineral processing / refractory plants.
- Proven leadership and team-management capability in a plant/shop-floor environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a preventive-maintenance mindset.
- Good communication and coordination skills for cross-functional and vendor liaison.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in electrical maintenance within a mineral processing, refractory, cement, or similar heavy-process manufacturing plant, with at least 3–5 years in a departmental leadership role.
- Valid Electrical Supervisor / Competency Certificate as per State Electrical Inspectorate norms preferred.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
