Position: Plant Head – Pressure Die Casting
Location: Padappai, Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Experience: 15–25 Years
Maximum CTC: 15 Lakhs per Annum

Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Plant Head – Pressure Die Casting to lead the complete manufacturing operations of a pressure die casting plant. The candidate will be responsible for production, quality, maintenance, tooling, productivity, cost control, manpower management, safety, and delivery performance.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in HPDC operations, preferably in Aluminium / Zinc die casting, along with proven experience managing plant-level operations and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations
- Take complete responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Pressure Die Casting plant.
- Plan and achieve production targets in line with customer requirements.
- Ensure optimum utilization of HPDC machines, manpower, tooling, and other plant resources.
- Drive overall plant productivity, efficiency, and operational excellence.
- Monitor production schedules and ensure on-time delivery.
- Establish and monitor plant-level KPIs, productivity targets, and operational metrics.
Pressure Die Casting Operations
- Strong understanding of High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) processes.
- Experience with aluminium / zinc pressure die casting operations.
- Optimize parameters related to injection speed, pressure, temperature, cycle time, shot weight, and cooling.
- Troubleshoot casting defects including:
- Porosity
- Blow holes
- Cold shuts
- Short shots
- Flash
- Cracks
- Dimensional variation
- Die soldering
- Shrinkage defects
- Improve OEE, cycle time, rejection levels, and die life.
- Ensure effective coordination between Production, Tool Room, Maintenance, Quality, and Stores.
Quality Management
- Ensure compliance with customer-specific quality requirements.
- Drive reduction in internal rejection, customer complaints, rework, and scrap.
- Implement effective Root Cause Analysis, CAPA, 8D, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with Quality teams to maintain process stability.
- Ensure adherence to applicable IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 systems, where applicable.
Maintenance & Tooling
- Coordinate with Maintenance and Tool Room teams to ensure maximum machine and die availability.
- Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Monitor breakdowns and implement measures to reduce machine downtime.
- Ensure proper die maintenance, die correction, die trials, and die life management.
- Support new product development, tooling development, and process validation.
Cost & Productivity Improvement
- Control manufacturing costs and improve overall plant profitability.
- Drive initiatives for:
- Scrap reduction
- Rejection reduction
- Energy reduction
- Cycle-time reduction
- Labour productivity
- Die-life improvement
- Machine utilization
- Develop and implement Lean Manufacturing / Kaizen / TPM initiatives.
- Monitor and improve OEE and overall equipment utilization.
Manpower & Team Management
- Lead and develop Production, Quality, Maintenance, Tool Room, Stores, and other plant functions.
- Set departmental objectives and review performance.
- Develop supervisors, engineers, and other technical personnel.
- Plan manpower requirements according to production volume.
- Ensure proper discipline, safety, housekeeping, and 5S across the plant.
Customer & Management Coordination
- Coordinate with customers regarding production, quality, delivery, and technical issues.
- Participate in customer visits, audits, and technical discussions.
- Prepare and present plant performance reports to senior management.
- Drive timely closure of customer complaints and corrective actions.
- Support new business, capacity expansion, and strategic manufacturing initiatives.

Educational Qualification
BE / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Metallurgy, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.

Candidate Profile
- Experience: 15–25 Years
- Strong experience in Pressure Die Casting plant operations.
- Proven experience handling plant-level manufacturing operations.
- Robust knowledge of HPDC machines, dies, casting processes, and defect analysis.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of Production, Quality, Maintenance, Tool Room, and Cost Control.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Candidates currently working as Plant Head / Factory Head / Operations Head / Senior Plant Manager / DGM Operations in Pressure Die Casting or related manufacturing industries are preferred.
- Location: Candidates from Chennai and surrounding industrial belts such as Padappai, Tambaram, Oragadam, Sriperumbudur, Maraimalai Nagar, and Guduvanchery preferred.
Compensation
Maximum CTC: 15 Lakhs per Annum
