Job Description – Housekeeping Manager / HOS

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Housekeeping Manager / Head of Housekeeping (HOS) to lead and manage the complete housekeeping operations of a luxury hospitality property.

The ideal candidate must have strong experience working with Taj Hotels or The Oberoi Group and possess excellent leadership, communication, guest service, and team management skills.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the complete Housekeeping Department and daily operations.
- Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, presentation, and guest comfort across the property.
- Manage housekeeping operations for guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and other assigned facilities.
- Develop and implement housekeeping SOPs, quality standards, and operational checklists.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure luxury hospitality standards are maintained.
- Plan staff rosters, manpower deployment, shifts, and daily work allocation.
- Train, mentor, and supervise the housekeeping team.
- Handle guest complaints and ensure timely resolution of housekeeping-related concerns.
- Coordinate closely with Front Office, Engineering, F&B;, Security, and other departments.
- Monitor linen, uniforms, amenities, cleaning materials, and housekeeping inventory.
- Control departmental expenses and ensure optimum utilization of resources.
- Maintain high standards of safety, hygiene, and cleanliness.




- Prepare departmental reports, manpower reports, inventory reports, and operational MIS.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide training to improve team performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Graduate or Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, or related field.
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in Housekeeping within Hotels/Resorts/Luxury Hospitality.
- Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in a Housekeeping leadership role.
- Experience working with Taj Hotels or The Oberoi Group is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of luxury housekeeping standards and SOPs.
- Excellent team management and leadership skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong guest handling and problem-solving abilities.
- Good knowledge of housekeeping inventory, linen management, and cost control.
- Ability to manage a large team and work effectively under pressure.
- Proficiency in MS Office and preparing departmental reports.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- Currently working as Housekeeping Manager / Executive Housekeeper / Assistant Executive Housekeeper.
- Mandatory experience with Taj or The Oberoi Group, Hyatt and Hilton.
- Minimum 5 years of managerial/team leadership experience.
- Strong exposure to luxury hotels, resorts, or premium hospitality properties.
- Excellent personality, grooming, and communication skills.
- Ability to independently lead the Housekeeping Department.
