In partnership with leading corporate partners such as Voltas, GSLF delivers specialized technical programs to equip youth with modern trade competencies, safety standards, and practical industry readiness.
Role Overview
The Electrical and Solar Trainer will lead classroom instruction and practical workshop training for the Electrical and Solar Power Installation technician batches at Gummidipoondi. The position is responsible for delivering hands-on technical training, developing practical assignments, maintaining workshop lab infrastructure, ensuring rigorous electrical safety compliance,
and tracking trainee skill progression for employment readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Practical & Theoretical Instruction: Deliver structured training sessions covering domestic and industrial electrical wiring, motor winding, control panels, circuit troubleshooting, and photovoltaic (PV) solar panel installation and maintenance.
- Curriculum & Practical Module Design: Develop competency-based lesson plans, workshop job sheets, circuit assembly exercises, and continuous evaluation rubrics aligned with trade standards.
- Lab Setup & Equipment Maintenance: Supervise electrical testing boards, solar demonstration kits, measuring instruments (multimeters, clamp meters, earth testers), and equipment safety systems; coordinate routine maintenance and timely replenishment of consumables.
- Safety & Compliance Protocols: Enforce strict workshop electrical safety practices, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards, grounding/earthing rules, and fire-hazard mitigation.
- Batch Monitoring & Reporting: Track daily attendance, learner assessments, and skill-matrix progression; prepare regular training progress reports for internal review and CSR partner updates.
- Assessment & Placement Support: Prepare trainees for end-line assessments, practical trade examinations,
and mock interviews to support placement into electrical service and solar installation roles.
Desired Profile
Educational Qualifications
- B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) with relevant hands-on industry or training experience (0–2 years).
Technical Skills
- Strong technical expertise in house wiring, commercial panel wiring, switchgear, transformer fundamentals, and motor winding.
- Hands-on familiarity with solar rooftop installation, PV module mounting, inverter and battery connections, and earthing setups.
- Proficiency with testing and measuring tools (insulation testers/meggers, clamp meters, phase indicators).
- Working knowledge of spreadsheet tools (MS Excel / Google Sheets) and MS Word for documentation and learner tracking.
Behavioural Traits
- Passion for hands-on vocational skilling and teaching youth from rural and semi-urban communities.
- Effective communication and demonstration skills in Tamil and English (knowledge of Hindi is an added advantage).
- High commitment to electrical safety, process integrity, and structured classroom management.
