Taekwondo Coach / Instructor – Job Description

Position: Taekwondo Coach / Martial Arts Instructor

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and conduct structured Taekwondo training sessions for students across different age groups.
- Teach fundamental Taekwondo techniques including stances, blocks, punches, kicks, footwork and basic combinations.
- Train students in appropriate self-defence techniques, discipline and martial arts etiquette.
- Develop students’ strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, speed and overall physical fitness.
- Conduct age-appropriate warm-up, stretching, conditioning and cool-down exercises.
- Teach students Taekwondo rules, terminology, scoring and competition procedures.
- Prepare students for belt grading, demonstrations, inter-school competitions and tournaments.
- Identify talented students and provide advanced training to help them progress.
- Monitor students’ individual progress and maintain appropriate training and performance records.
- Promote discipline, confidence, focus, respect, teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship.
- Ensure that all training sessions are conducted in a safe and controlled environment.
- Follow appropriate safety procedures and take necessary precautions to prevent injuries.
- Ensure proper use, maintenance and storage of Taekwondo equipment and protective gear.
- Conduct demonstrations and performances during Annual Day, Sports Day, school events and celebrations.
- Encourage participation and create a supportive environment for students of different abilities.
- Coordinate with the Physical Education department and school management for sports activities and competitions.




- Communicate students’ progress and areas for improvement to the relevant school team and parents when required.
- Participate in sports camps, workshops, competitions and other co-curricular activities organized by the school.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education / Sports / Sports Science or a related field is preferred.
- Recognized Taekwondo certification / Black Belt (preferably 2nd Dan or above).
- Certification from a recognized Taekwondo federation/association will be an advantage.
- Prior experience as a Taekwondo Coach / Martial Arts Instructor, preferably in a school environment.
- Positive knowledge of Taekwondo techniques, rules, grading systems and competition formats.
- Strong communication, leadership and student-management skills.
- Ability to train children safely and effectively across different age groups.

The candidate should be passionate about working with children and capable of creating a safe, structured and motivating training environment.

Preferred Experience

- Experience working as a Taekwondo Coach in a school will be preferred.
- Experience preparing students for belt examinations, competitions and inter-school tournaments will be an added advantage.
- Candidates with recognized coaching certifications and competitive Taekwondo experience are encouraged to apply.
