About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and highly hands-on Hotel General Manager to take complete ownership of the day-to-day operations and overall performance of a 30-key hotel with a restaurant and banquet hall in Warangal.
The ideal candidate will be a strong all-round hotelier who can independently manage operations, people, guest experience, sales, revenue, F&B;, banquet operations, vendor management, cost control, compliance and profitability.
This is a hands-on leadership role. The GM is expected to be actively involved in the property and take end-to-end responsibility for the hotel's performance, rather than functioning only in a supervisory capacity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Overall Hotel Operations
- Take complete responsibility for the smooth and profitable operation of the hotel.
- Oversee all departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B;, Banquets, Maintenance and Security.
- Establish and maintain high operational standards, SOPs and service procedures.
- Monitor daily operations and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
- Ensure the property is well maintained, clean, safe and guest-ready at all times.
- Conduct regular operational inspections and daily briefings.
2. Rooms & Front Office
- Drive room occupancy, ADR and RevPAR through effective sales and revenue strategies.
- Monitor reservations, check-ins, check-outs, guest feedback and room inventory.
- Ensure excellent guest service and quick resolution of complaints.
- Manage OTA performance, online reviews and direct booking channels.
- Ensure proper billing, cash handling and night audit procedures.
3. Restaurant & F&B; Operations
- Take overall responsibility for restaurant performance and profitability.
- Monitor food quality, service standards, menu pricing and customer satisfaction.
- Control food costs, wastage, inventory and portion standards.
- Ensure proper hygiene, food safety and statutory compliance.
- Drive restaurant revenue through local marketing, promotions and repeat business.
- Work closely with the Chef and F&B; team on menus, costing and operational efficiency.
4. Banquet Operations
- Take ownership of banquet sales and operations.
- Drive weddings, corporate events, parties, meetings and other functions.
- Develop relationships with local corporates, event planners, wedding planners and other potential clients.
- Ensure smooth execution of events from enquiry and quotation through billing and closure.
- Monitor banquet profitability, food costs, manpower and service quality.
5. Sales & Business Development
- Personally drive local sales and business development.
- Develop corporate accounts and local business partnerships.
- Identify opportunities for room sales, restaurant business and banquet events.
- Build relationships with travel agents, corporates, institutions, wedding/event planners and other local businesses.
- Set and achieve monthly revenue targets.
- Track competition, market rates and local business trends.
6. Revenue Management
- Monitor occupancy, ADR, RevPAR and overall revenue performance.
- Implement dynamic pricing based on demand, seasonality, events and competition.
- Optimise room rates across OTAs and direct channels.
- Prepare and monitor monthly revenue targets and forecasts.
7. People & Team Management
- Recruit, train, supervise and motivate the hotel team.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and efficient manpower deployment.
- Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews and training.
- Build a culture of accountability, discipline and guest-focused service.
- Handle employee grievances and disciplinary matters effectively.
8. Finance & Cost Control
- Take responsibility for the hotel's P&L; and overall profitability.
- Prepare and monitor operating budgets.
- Control payroll, food cost, utility expenses, purchasing and other operating costs.
- Monitor daily revenue, expenses, cash collections and outstanding payments.
- Ensure proper controls over inventory, purchasing and consumption.
- Coordinate with accounts/auditors and ensure timely financial reporting.
9. Procurement & Vendor Management
- Identify and negotiate with suppliers and service providers.
- Ensure competitive pricing and quality of supplies.
- Monitor purchasing, receiving, storage and inventory controls.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships while ensuring commercial discipline.
10. Guest Experience & Brand Standards
- Personally monitor guest satisfaction and service standards.
- Respond to VIP guests and important customer requirements.
- Track online reviews and ensure timely responses to guest feedback.
- Implement corrective actions to improve guest experience.
- Build a strong reputation for the property in the local market.
11. Maintenance, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure preventive maintenance of rooms, restaurant, banquet facilities and equipment.
- Coordinate with engineering/maintenance teams to minimise downtime.
- Ensure compliance with applicable hotel, fire, food safety, labour and other statutory requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation, licences and records.
- Ensure adequate security and emergency procedures.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant hotel experience, with experience in a managerial/leadership role.
- Prior experience as a Hotel Manager / General Manager / Operations Manager / F&B; Manager with strong overall operational exposure will be preferred.
- Experience managing a boutique/small-to-mid-sized hotel will be an advantage.
- Strong exposure to Rooms, F&B; and Banquets is essential.
- Should have a solid understanding of hotel P&L;, budgeting, costing and revenue management.
- Must have demonstrated sales and business-development ability, particularly in the local market.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Should be comfortable being hands-on and operationally involved.
- Ability to independently manage the property with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of hotel PMS, POS, OTA platforms and basic MS Office/Google Workspace is preferred.
- Hospitality qualification/degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Key Requirement
The successful candidate must be capable of taking complete end-to-end ownership of the property — from daily operations and guest experience to sales, F&B;, banquets, manpower, procurement, cost control, compliance and profitability.
This role is best suited for a hands-on, commercially driven hotelier who is comfortable wearing multiple hats and personally driving the business.
