Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Welding Inspector with 4–7 years of experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, marine, fabrication, or heavy engineering. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting welding activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, WPS, ITPs, applicable standards, class requirements, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

- Inspect welding and fabrication activities at various stages of production.
- Verify welding work against approved drawings, WPS, specifications and ITP requirements.
- Check joint preparation, fit-up, alignment, root gap, bevel angle and cleanliness before welding.
- Verify welder qualification and ensure qualified welders are deployed for the applicable welding process and position.
- Monitor welding parameters, preheating and interpass temperature as specified in the WPS.
- Conduct visual inspection (VT) of completed welds and identify welding defects.
- Coordinate with NDT personnel for PT, MT, UT and RT as applicable.
- Review NDT reports and ensure defects are properly repaired and re-inspected.
- Verify welding consumables, storage, handling and traceability.
- Check material identification and traceability against relevant material certificates.
- Prepare and maintain inspection reports, checklists and quality records.
- Raise/coordinate NCRs for non-conforming welding work and follow up on corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, QA/QC and Class/Client representatives during inspections.
- Participate in stage inspections, hold points and final inspections.
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability of welding activities.




- Support preparation of quality dossiers and final inspection documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE requirements while carrying out inspection activities.

Required Technical Knowledge

- Welding processes such as SMAW, FCAW, GMAW/MIG-MAG and GTAW/TIG.
- Welding defects and their identification.
- WPS, PQR/WPQR and welder qualification requirements.
- Fit-up and dimensional inspection.
- Basic knowledge of NDT methods and interpretation of NDT reports.
- ITP, inspection checklists and NCR procedures.
- Material identification and traceability.
- Engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Basic knowledge of shipbuilding/ship-repair practices and Class requirements.

Qualification

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering or equivalent.
- Welding Inspection certification such as CSWIP 3.1 / AWS CWI / equivalent will be an advantage.
- NDT Level II certification in relevant methods will be preferred.

Experience

- 4–7 years of relevant experience in welding inspection.
- Experience in shipyard, ship repair, marine fabrication, offshore, pressure vessels or heavy engineering is preferred.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
