About the Role
As a Young Journalist Intern, you will work with the editorial and research team on identifying stories, conducting research, gathering information, interviewing people and developing articles and other editorial content.
This is a hands-on journalism internship designed for young candidates who want practical exposure to the editorial process — from finding a story and researching it to reporting, writing, fact-checking, editing and publication.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and develop news stories, features, interviews, profiles, explainers and articles.
- Identify and pitch relevant story ideas and emerging topics.
- Monitor developments related to geography, environment, climate change, science, technology, society, development and other contemporary issues.
- Conduct background research using credible sources, reports, publications, government documents and research papers.
- Conduct interviews with experts, researchers, academics, professionals and relevant stakeholders.
- Attend and cover seminars, conferences, workshops, exhibitions, meetings and other events, wherever required.
- Gather first-hand information and develop it into clear and well-structured stories.
- Verify facts, statistics, names, quotations and other information before publication.
- Maintain proper records of sources and references used for stories.
- Write clear, accurate and engaging copy for print and digital platforms.
- Assist in editing, proofreading and refining articles in coordination with the editorial team.
- Develop suitable headlines, captions, summaries and other supporting content.
- Assist in sourcing relevant photographs, graphics and supporting material for stories.
- Contribute to digital and social media content based on editorial stories.
- Participate in editorial discussions and contribute ideas for future stories and content.
- Work on multiple assignments while maintaining quality, accuracy and deadlines.

Eligibility
- 0–6 months of experience in journalism, reporting, editorial work, content writing, research or related areas.
- Students, recent graduates and early-career candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates from Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, English, Geography, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, Humanities or related disciplines may apply.
- Candidates from other academic backgrounds with robust writing, research and communication skills are also welcome.
- Experience with college newspapers, magazines, student publications, blogs, newsletters, freelance writing or independent journalism projects will be an advantage.
