About Manayill Consulting

Manayill Consulting is a management and technology consulting company developing custom business applications, AI-enabled platforms, mobile applications, integrations, automation solutions, and enterprise software for clients in India and overseas.

We are strengthening our internal Quality Assurance function and are looking for a Software QA Engineer who can take independent responsibility for validating applications before they reach our clients and production environments.

This is not simply a test-execution role. We are looking for someone who can understand a business requirement, think critically about how a system could fail, design appropriate tests, identify issues, and provide an independent assessment of release readiness.

Key ResponsibilitiesSoftware Testing & Quality Assurance

- Understand business and functional requirements and translate them into test scenarios and test cases.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, system, exploratory and usability testing.
- Test web applications, mobile applications and backend/API-driven systems.
- Independently validate features developed by the engineering team before UAT or production release.
- Identify edge cases, workflow failures and unexpected system behaviour.
- Reproduce, document and track defects through resolution.
- Perform regression testing following bug fixes and application changes.

API & Integration Testing

- Test REST APIs using tools such as Postman.
- Validate request/response payloads, authentication, status codes, error handling and business rules.
- Test integrations between applications and third-party services.
- Verify end-to-end data flow across interconnected systems.
- Use SQL/database queries where necessary to verify application data and transaction integrity.

Web & Mobile Testing

- Test responsive web applications across browsers and devices.
- Test Android and iOS applications.
- Validate installation, authentication, permissions, application workflows, error handling and backend communication.
- Identify device-specific and platform-specific issues.

Test Documentation

- Create and maintain test plans, test cases, checklists and regression suites.
- Document defects clearly with reproducible steps, screenshots/video, expected behaviour, actual behaviour,

severity and supporting information.
- Maintain testing evidence for important releases.
- Produce concise QA reports showing testing completed, open defects, risks and release status.

Release Quality

Work closely with developers and project managers through a structured release process:

Development → Internal QA/QC → Client/UAT → Production

The QA Engineer will provide an independent quality assessment before software is presented to the client or approved for production.

Where appropriate, the QA Engineer should be comfortable recommending that a release not proceed until critical issues are resolved.

QA Process Development

As one of the initial members of our internal QA function, you will also help us:

- Establish standard QA procedures across projects.
- Develop reusable testing templates and checklists.
- Build regression test suites for existing products.
- Improve defect classification and reporting.
- Define release-readiness criteria.
- Identify areas suitable for automated testing.
- Gradually introduce and expand test automation.

Required Skills

Candidates should have:

- 3–5 years of professional software QA/testing experience.
- Robust experience in manual functional and regression testing.
- Experience testing web-based applications.
- Hands-on experience with API testing using Postman or similar tools.
- Basic to intermediate SQL/database validation skills.
- Experience creating test cases and test scenarios from requirements.
- Strong understanding of software development and testing lifecycles.
- Experience using defect/project tracking systems such as Jira.
- Ability to independently investigate and reproduce software defects.
- Good written communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work directly with developers and project managers.

Preferred Skills

Experience in any of the following will be an advantage:

- Playwright, Selenium or Cypress
- Automated API testing
- Android/iOS application testing
- Flutter application testing
- Performance/load testing
- Git/GitLab
- CI/CD pipelines
- Basic Linux/server knowledge
- Cloud-hosted applications
- SaaS platforms

- AI/LLM-enabled applications
- Testing applications involving multiple APIs and third-party integrations
- Basic security testing concepts and OWASP awareness

We do not expect the candidate to be an expert in every technology listed above. We value the ability to learn new systems and develop a structured approach to testing them.

What We Are Looking For

We are particularly interested in someone who:

- Thinks beyond the obvious happy path.
- Naturally asks “What happens if this fails?”
- Can understand a business process rather than testing only individual screens.
- Does not assume that a feature is correct because the developer says it works.
- Can distinguish between cosmetic issues and business-critical defects.
- Is comfortable testing interconnected applications and APIs.
- Documents findings clearly enough for another engineer to reproduce them.
- Takes ownership of software quality without becoming a bottleneck to development.
- Can eventually help mentor junior QA engineers as our internal QA team grows.

Practical Evaluation

Shortlisted candidates will be given access to a sample application or test environment and asked to perform a practical QA exercise.

The exercise may include:

- Understanding a short requirement.
- Testing an application workflow.
- Identifying defects and edge cases.
- Testing an API.
- Documenting findings.
- Providing a recommendation on release readiness.

We are more interested in how you approach testing and identify risk than in memorised definitions of QA terminology.

Growth Opportunity

This position is intended to become an important part of Manayill Consulting’s internal engineering and quality function.

A successful candidate will have the opportunity to take increasing ownership of QA processes, automation and release quality and, as the team expands, progress toward responsibilities such as:

Senior QA Engineer → QA Lead → QA/QC Manager

Final compensation will depend on relevant experience, technical capability, practical assessment and ability to independently own software quality.
