Role Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced SAP OpenText Vendor Invoice Management (VIM) Consultant with 12+ years of overall SAP experience and extensive hands-on expertise in OpenText VIM, SAP Accounts Payable, invoice processing, troubleshooting, and process optimization.

The ideal candidate should be a strong hands-on problem solver who can independently investigate complex VIM issues, perform root-cause analysis, stabilize existing processes, and work closely with the customer to fine-tune and optimize the end-to-end invoice management process.

This is not just a support role. We need someone who can understand the customer’s current VIM landscape, identify recurring issues and process gaps, recommend improvements, and drive those improvements through implementation.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide expert-level functional and technical-functional support for SAP OpenText VIM.

* Troubleshoot complex VIM issues involving invoice processing, workflows, exceptions, approvals, posting, and integrations.

* Perform detailed root-cause analysis (RCA) for recurring production issues and implement permanent fixes.

* Analyze the customer’s existing VIM processes and recommend opportunities for process optimization, automation, and performance improvement.

* Support the complete invoice lifecycle from invoice capture and validation through approval, posting, payment readiness, and archiving.

* Configure and support VIM components including Document Processing (DP), Business Rules, Exception Handling, Approval Workflows, Roles, and Process Types.

* Troubleshoot invoices stuck in various VIM processing and workflow stages.

* Work extensively with VIM Workplace, dashboards, queues, indexing, validation, and exception handling.

* Analyze workflow routing and approval issues and optimize approval processes based on business requirements.

* Support invoice scenarios including PO invoices, Non-PO invoices, credit memos, blocked invoices, duplicate invoices,



and exception scenarios.

* Work closely with SAP AP/FI, MM, ABAP, Basis, integration, and business teams to resolve cross-functional issues.

* Troubleshoot integration issues between OpenText VIM and SAP FI/AP, MM, Purchase Orders, Goods Receipts, and Invoice Verification.

* Support and optimize 2-way and 3-way invoice matching processes.

* Review existing customizations and identify opportunities to simplify or standardize the VIM solution.

* Work directly with US-based customer stakeholders to understand pain points and recommend practical solutions.

* Prepare functional specifications and coordinate with ABAP developers for VIM enhancements where required.

* Support testing, defect resolution, regression testing, UAT, deployment, and post-production stabilization.

* Develop documentation, troubleshooting guides, process flows, and knowledge-transfer materials.

* Proactively monitor recurring issues and recommend preventive improvements rather than relying solely on reactive support.

Required Skills & Experience

* 12+ years of overall SAP experience, with significant hands-on experience in OpenText VIM.

* Strong expertise in OpenText Vendor Invoice Management (VIM) configuration and support.

* Extensive experience troubleshooting complex VIM production issues.

* Strong knowledge of:

* VIM Document Processing

* VIM Workplace

* Approval workflows

* Exception handling

* Business rules

* Process types

* Invoice validation

* Duplicate invoice handling

* PO and Non-PO invoices

* Credit memos

* Invoice posting and blocking scenarios

* Strong understanding of SAP FI Accounts Payable (AP) processes.

* Valuable understanding of SAP MM Invoice Verification and FI-MM integration.

* Experience supporting VIM integrations with invoice capture/OCR and document management solutions.





* Ability to analyze workflow logs, application logs, error messages, and VIM processing statuses to determine root causes.

* Experience working in SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA environments.

* Strong understanding of end-to-end Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes.

* Experience with VIM upgrades, enhancements, migrations, or process optimization initiatives is highly desirable.

Process Optimization Expectations

The consultant should be capable of going beyond day-to-day incident resolution and helping the customer improve the overall VIM environment by:

* Identifying bottlenecks in invoice processing.

* Reducing manual intervention and recurring exceptions.

* Improving invoice processing and approval turnaround times.

* Optimizing workflow routing and approval rules.

* Identifying opportunities for automation.

* Improving PO/Non-PO invoice processing.

* Reducing invoices stuck in exception queues.

* Improving first-pass invoice processing rates.

* Recommending SAP/OpenText best practices.

* Establishing better monitoring and support procedures.

Candidate Profile

We are specifically looking for a hands-on senior consultant rather than a purely managerial profile. The candidate should be comfortable getting into the system, analyzing difficult VIM issues, interacting directly with business users, and driving issues through resolution.

The successful candidate should be a go-getter with strong troubleshooting and customer-facing skills, capable of independently owning VIM issues and continuously identifying opportunities to improve the customer’s invoice-management processes.

* Comfortable interacting directly with US-based business and IT stakeholders.

* Ability to work independently in an offshore remote environment.

* Willingness to provide reasonable overlap with US business hours for customer discussions, critical issues, and project meetings.
