Job Description
Designation: Diploma Engineer Trainee (DET) – Civil
Department: Project Execution / Civil
Location: EPC Project Site
Reporting To: Site Engineer / Project Manager / Construction Manager
Job Purpose
To support the site civil execution team in carrying out construction activities as per approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Site Engineers in execution and supervision of civil construction activities at the project site.
- Study and understand approved civil drawings, BOQ, specifications, and method statements.
- Support activities such as:
- Excavation and earthwork
- PCC/RCC works
- Reinforcement and shuttering
- Foundation and structural works
- Masonry and plastering
- Road, drainage and flooring works
- Equipment foundations and related civil works
- Monitor day-to-day site activities and ensure execution as per approved drawings and instructions.
- Assist in checking line, level, alignment, dimensions, and quantity of executed work.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, labour teams, surveyors, QA/QC, safety, planning, and stores teams.
- Maintain daily records of manpower, materials, work progress, and site activities.
- Assist in preparation of Daily Progress Reports (DPR) and other project documentation.
- Support measurement of completed work for BOQ and subcontractor billing.
- Ensure proper utilization and availability of construction materials at site.
- Coordinate with the QA/QC team for inspections and required quality checks.
- Follow approved ITP, method statements, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Report construction issues, drawing discrepancies, material shortages, and site constraints to the reporting engineer.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and compliance with project HSE requirements.
- Participate in site meetings and provide updates regarding assigned activities.
- Assist in maintaining as-built records and other relevant site documentation.
- Perform any other civil/project-related responsibilities assigned by the Project Manager or reporting authority.
Required Technical Skills
- Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institute.
- Basic knowledge of civil construction and EPC project execution.
- Ability to read and understand civil drawings and BOQ.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Understanding of measurements and quantity calculations.
- Basic knowledge of RCC, reinforcement, shuttering, concrete, earthwork, and finishing works.
- Basic knowledge of construction quality and safety practices.
- MS Office knowledge, particularly Excel and Word.

Experience: Freshers / 0–2 years of relevant site experience.
Qualification: Diploma – Civil Engineering.
Job Nature: Full-time | Site-based EPC Project.
