Job Title: General Helper / Shop Floor Assistant

Location: Mahindra World City (Chengalpattu) / Oragadam (Kanchipuram), Chennai

Work Schedule: 8 Hours or 12 Hours (26 Working Days per month)

Compensation:

- 8-Hour Shift: ₹11,667 / month DOCX
- 12-Hour Shift: ₹17,500 / month DOCX

Position Summary: The General Helper provides vital operational support to welders, fabricators, and shop floor supervisors in a busy industrial manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for material handling, preparing metal pieces for welding, maintaining clean work areas, and assisting with basic tool operations to ensure smooth and safe daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Material Handling & Transport: Move raw materials, metal sheets, pipes, and completed weldments across production areas using hand trucks or manual lifting.
- Fabrication Support: Assist ARC, TIG, and MIG welders by holding, clamping, and positioning workpieces during setup.
- Surface Preparation: Clean metal surfaces, grind edges, remove rust, slag, or spatter using hand grinders,



wire brushes, and scraping tools.
- Shop Floor Maintenance: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace by sweeping floors, collecting scrap metal, and properly storing equipment.
- Tool & Equipment Care: Organize tools, assist with connecting gas cylinders or welding leads, and report damaged machinery to maintenance supervisors.
- Loading & Unloading: Unload incoming raw supplies and stack finished items safely onto pallets for storage or transport.

Experience Preferred

Prior experience as a helper or assistant in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial plant is preferred.

Physical Demands Solid stamina to bend, lift up to 25–30 kg, stand for extended periods, and work in shop floor conditions.

Skills & AbilitiesAbility to follow safety instructions, assist team members, and handle basic hand/power tools safely.
