Role & responsibilities

- Responsible for patient management under the care of consultant in-charge in a protected, compassionate and ethical manner

- Work as a team leader during the on-call duties to attend all emergency and ward calls and organize patient management

- Modify patient management in an appropriate and timely manner in consultation with the consultant in-charge.

- Perform invasive procedures in accordance with the regulations of the Hospital.

- Guide and oversee the junior colleagues in the execution of invasive procedures.

- Liaise with Departmental and hospitals committees for provision of comprehensive in-patient and post-discharge care for patients.

- Provide medical reports and necessary documents to patients, hospital management and other stakeholders in consultation with the consultant in-charge as appropriate.

- Delegate duties to and supervise the activities of junior colleagues to provide continuous medical care to patients.

- Maintain accurate medical records in EMR.

- Participate in inter-departmental clinical meetings to ensure provision of comprehensive management to the patients.

- Initiate, participate and present the results of clinical audit within the area of work

- Adhere to quality indicators, patient bylaws,



TAT and protocols for the dept.

- Adhere to prescribed infection control standards

- Serve on committees as required by the Head of the Department

- Delegate the responsibility in case of inability to attend meeting.

- Provide constructive feed-back to junior colleagues reporting to him

- Identify areas of cost reduction and process optimisation

- Ensure that there are no medico legal issues due to errors and negligence in the dept. In case of such issues, take complete ownership to resolve the matter

- Ensure to keep abreast with latest developments in the area of specialization and interest, and maintain a track of CME / CPD

- Demonstrate evidence of successful participation in mandatory courses required by the Hospital

- Participate in research in collaboration with other Departments

- Initiate, conduct, present and publish research relevant to the subject and area of expertise and requirement of the hospital

- Impart comprehensive knowledge and training to junior colleagues.

- Participate through teaching and discussions in the CME activities organized by the department
- To help prepare the teaching material
