L2 Linux/Unix support engineer

Location: Bangalore/ Noida (onsite position)

Responsibilities

- Supporting multiple geological locations in shifts to serve user communities across North America, Europe, and Asia sites.
- Focusing on improving R&D; productivity and committing to customer success.
- Maintaining, enhancing, monitoring, reporting, and improving its efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated Unix/Linux OS-level incidents, performance bottlenecks, and service failures.
- Write and modify scripts (Shell, Python, or Perl) to automate routine maintenance and system health checks.
- Provision virtual servers, manage user access, configure file systems, and perform OS patching or upgrades.
- Analyze system and application logs to identify the root cause of complex errors and develop permanent fixes.
- Monitor system resources (CPU, memory, disk space) and maintain server hardening and security compliance.
- resolves complex system issues escalated by L1 teams.




- Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and knowledge base articles to assist L1 teams
- collaborate with L3 IT teams across domains to ensure high availability and stability of production environments

Qualifications & Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/IT OR related fields and typically 3-5 years of hands-on experience in Unix/Linux environments.
- Advanced Unix commands, LVM, NFS, Autofs, DNS, FTP, VNC, Remote NX and server hardening and RHCE certified preferred
- Basic / Proficiency in Shell Scripting (Bash), Python, or Perl.
- Strong analytical thinking, excellent English communication, and readiness for on-call and shift rotations.
- Experience working directly with R&D; software development teams to collaboratively develop solutions to optimize their working setting
- Experience in HPC using LSF or Slurm
