Responsibilities

- Student Counselling & Emotional Support
- Provide individual and, where appropriate, group counselling to students.
- Offer emotional support to students experiencing academic, personal, social, behavioral, or emotional challenges.
- Build trusting and supportive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Help students develop healthy coping mechanisms, self-awareness, confidence, and resilience.

- Student Development & Wellbeing

- Support students in managing academic pressure, relationships, self-esteem, stress, and other age-appropriate challenges.
- Identify students who may require additional emotional or behavioral support.
- Conduct wellbeing, life-skills, and awareness sessions for students.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and emotionally safe school environment.

- Early Identification & Crisis Support

- Identify signs of emotional distress, behavioral concerns, or other wellbeing-related challenges at an early stage.
- Respond appropriately to student concerns and crisis situations.
- Escalate reliable or high-risk concerns through the schools established safeguarding and referral processes.
- Coordinate with qualified external professionals when specialized intervention or referral is required.

- Parent & Teacher Collaboration

- Work closely with teachers and school teams to understand and support students needs.




- Communicate appropriately with parents/guardians regarding student wellbeing, where required and in accordance with school protocols.
- Provide guidance to teachers on appropriate approaches for supporting students facing emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Participate in student support meetings and case discussions when required.

- Documentation & Confidentiality

- Maintain accurate and confidential counselling records and case documentation.
- Ensure student information is handled with discretion and in accordance with school policies and professional ethics.
- Track student progress and follow up on identified concerns.
- Prepare relevant reports and updates for school leadership when required.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's / Master's degree in Psychology (Clinical, Applied, or Child Psychology preferred).
- 2+ years of relevant experience in a counselling or educational setting.
- Added advantage: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) training/certification.
- Strong communication and active listening skills.
- Empathetic, patient, and non-judgmental approach.
