The Role
The Actuarial Associate Manager is responsibility to manage the end-to-end delivery of actuarial projects across reserving, pricing, capital, risk modelling and financial reporting. The role combines hands-on actuarial expertise with technical review, project management, client engagement and day-to-day guidance of a small team or project workstream.
You will apply sound actuarial judgement to data, methods, assumptions, models and conclusions; ensure high-quality and timely delivery; explain findings clearly to clients and senior colleagues; and build team capability through coaching, feedback and knowledge sharing.
What You Will Do
Actuarial Project Delivery

- Define and manage scope, workplans, timelines, budgets, dependencies and quality checkpoints for small to medium projects or workstreams within larger engagements.
- Prepare and oversee forward-looking loss forecasts, reserve analyses, capital assessments and other bespoke actuarial models for corporate and captive insurance clients.
- Interpret model outputs, investigate movements and translate technical results into clear, commercially relevant recommendations.
Technical Review and Quality Assurance
- Perform independent technical and editorial review of data, methodologies, assumptions, calculations, models and client deliverables, applying reasonableness checks and actuarial judgement.
- Ensure work is accurate, reproducible, appropriately documented and compliant with applicable professional, regulatory and internal standards.
- Resolve routine and moderately complex technical issues using established methods and prior experience, escalating novel or higher-risk matters when appropriate.
- Maintain clear review evidence and support continuous improvement of templates, controls and quality frameworks.
- Lead or contribute substantively to client calls, meetings, workshops and presentations, explaining actuarial methods, findings, limitations and recommendations in accessible language.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across geographies and disciplines, coordinating inputs and ensuring effective information exchange.
Team Leadership and Capability Building
- Coordinate the daily activities of analysts and senior analysts on assigned engagements, allocate work and monitor progress against agreed plans.
- Coach colleagues, answer technical queries and provide timely, constructive feedback that improves actuarial judgement, communication and delivery quality.
- Deliver training and knowledge-sharing sessions and contribute to a cooperative, inclusive environment that encourages technical development and shared learning.
- Support resource planning, workload prioritisation, onboarding and development discussions for the immediate team.
