25,000/month + performance bonus up to 35,000/quarter
Full time | In-office | Mumbai
Build relationships with technology professionals and help us build the distribution engine for a new technology publishing and learning company.
About SkillUpExchange
SkillUpExchange is building a new kind of technology publishing and learning company.
We work with experienced technology professionals and developers to create high-quality technical books, courses, audiobooks, and other learning products.
Our technology platform, AuthPlat, helps experts turn their knowledge into professionally produced technical content. SkillUpExchange is the consumer platform where these books and learning products are published, distributed, and connected with a broader technology learning community.
We are an early-stage company, which means you will not simply be executing an established marketing plan. You will help us build the plan and the processes themselves.
Our immediate focus is to build relationships with developers and technology professionals who can become readers, early learners, community members, advocates, course participants, and eventually even authors and instructors.
About the Role
We are looking for a Marketing & Community Associate to help us build our technology community and distribution function.
This is a people + research + communication + execution role.
A significant part of your day will involve identifying relevant technology professionals, researching their backgrounds and interests, reaching out to them through LinkedIn, starting conversations, introducing them to relevant books and learning products, and developing those relationships over time.
You will also work with our authors to build awareness for their books, support social media activity, develop partnerships with newsletters and technology creators, and maintain our growing community database.
The role is particularly suited to someone who genuinely enjoys talking to people, is curious about technology, and likes building things from scratch.
You do not need to be a software developer. You do need to be comfortable learning about technology and communicating with people who work in technology.
What You Will Do
1. Technology Community Outreach
- Identify relevant developers, engineers, technology professionals, technical leaders and technology enthusiasts on LinkedIn.
- Build relationships with approximately 40 relevant professionals per working day.
- Use the founder's LinkedIn network as well as your own skilled network for outreach.
- Research people before contacting them and understand why a particular person may be relevant to a particular book or learning product.
- Send personalized introductory messages and follow up appropriately.
- Maintain conversations rather than treating outreach as a one-time activity.
- Invite relevant professionals to participate as early readers, community members, or learning participants.
- Build long-term relationships that can be useful across multiple books and products.
2. Community & Relationship Management
You will maintain our relationship database in Zoho Bigin.
You will record useful information such as:
- Who we have contacted
- Their role and company
- Technology interests
- Which books they may be interested in
- Conversations and responses
- Early-reader participation
- Course or learning interests
- Partnership opportunities
- Potential future author/instructor opportunities
- Follow-up dates and next actions
The objective is not simply to generate contacts.
Every relationship we create should make future distribution easier.
3. Author Support & Social Media
Work with our authors to help them build awareness for their books.
This will include:
- Preparing LinkedIn content ideas for authors.
- Creating approximately 2 posts per week for each active author.
- Giving authors content options they can review and approve.
- Coordinating publishing schedules.
- Reminding authors about scheduled posts.
- Helping authors turn their expertise, book launches and ideas into useful social content.
- Preparing content for SkillUpExchange, AuthPlat and the founder's LinkedIn presence.
4. Partnerships
Research and develop relationships with people and organizations that already have audiences interested in technology.
Potential partners include:
- Technology newsletters
- Technical bloggers
- YouTubers
- Podcasts
- Developer communities
- Technology educators
- Community organizers
- Relevant online publications
You will build prospect lists, initiate conversations, and track partnerships from first contact through to publication or collaboration.
5. Measure, Learn & Improve
Because we are an early-stage company, part of your job is to help us understand what actually works.
You will track the journey from:
People identified contacted connected responded interested read engaged became community members purchased/participated
You will review the results and help us improve our approach.
We care about quality of relationships, not just the number of messages sent.
What We Are Looking For
You could be a great fit if you are:
- Curious about technology and enjoy learning new things.
- Naturally comfortable talking to people.
- Confident communicating with professionals and senior people.
- Strong in written and spoken English.
- Good at researching people and understanding what they do.
- Persistent without being pushy.
- Organized and consistent.
- Comfortable working with targets and measurable goals.
- Interested in LinkedIn and online communities.
- Comfortable using AI tools and learning new software.
- Ambitious and interested in taking ownership.
- Someone who enjoys building something from scratch.
You do NOT need:
- Prior publishing experience.
- A traditional marketing degree.
- Previous Developer Relations experience.
- To be a software developer.
- An MBA.
- Experience at a large technology company.
We are more interested in your curiosity, communication skills, initiative, and ability to build relationships than your degree or previous job title.

This role could be a particularly good fit for:
- Recent graduates in engineering, computer science or related fields.
- Students or graduates who are active in technology communities.
- People who enjoy LinkedIn and online networking.
- Candidates with strong communication skills who want to work in technology.
- Early-career candidates interested in marketing, community building, developer relations, technology publishing or technology business.
- Candidates who have organized college technology events, communities or clubs.
- People who enjoy meeting new people and starting conversations.
What Success Looks Like
In your first few months, success will mean building a real and growing network of relevant technology professionals.
You will be expected to contribute to:
- Growth of our developer and technology professional network.
- Early-reader participation for our books.
- Genuine Amazon reviews and reader feedback.
- LinkedIn visibility and author-generated content.
- Newsletter, creator and community partnerships.
- Growth of our CRM/community database.
- Better understanding of which outreach and distribution channels work.
The most important thing is that you help us move from:

- Writing an introductory LinkedIn message.
- Thinking through how they would build a relationship with someone who responds.
We care more about how you think and communicate than about having the perfect resume.
