Responsibilities
- Rope Access Work - Perform rope-access activities under the supervision of IRATA Level III Supervisor.
- Welding Work - Carry out SMAW/approved welding works for pile repair, patch plates, wrap plates, stiffeners and other structural repair items as per approved WPS/drawing.
- Pile Repair - Execute repair works on steel jetty piles from rope access, including preparation, fit-up and welding of repair plates.
- Surface Preparation - Carry out required grinding, cleaning and preparation of steel surfaces before welding, as instructed.
- Fit-Up - Properly position, align and temporarily secure repair plates before welding.
- Welding Quality - Ensure welding is carried out as per approved WPS, welding parameters and project specifications.
- Rope & Welding Safety - Protect ropes, harnesses and other rope-access equipment from welding sparks, molten metal, sharp edges and heat.
- Tools & Equipment - Inspect and safely use welding machines, electrode holders, grinders, cables, tools and rope-access equipment.
- Dropped Object Prevention - Properly secure welding tools, grinders, electrodes and other equipment while working at height.
- Hot Work Safety - Follow hot-work permit requirements, fire-prevention measures and maintain suitable fire protection/fire watch as required.
- Coordination with NDT - Coordinate with NDT personnel for inspection/testing of completed welds and rectify defects identified during inspection.
- Quality Control - Report welding defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, lack of fusion or other unacceptable weld conditions to the supervisor.
- Daily Inspection - Check ropes, harness, connectors, descender/ascender and other PPE before commencing work and report any defect immediately.
- Emergency/Rescue - Participate in the project rescue plan and assist the Level III during emergency rescue operations, as trained and directed.
- Environmental Conditions - Stop and inform Level III in case of unsafe wind, tide, wave, rain, poor visibility or other marine conditions.
- Housekeeping - Remove welding waste, electrodes, slag and other debris safely without creating a dropped-object or marine pollution hazard.
- Documentation - Maintain required welding records, consumable details, job completion records and other documentation as instructed.
- Safety Compliance - Strictly follow PTW, JSA/RA, toolbox talks, HSE procedures and instructions of the IRATA Level III Supervisor.
- Stop Work - Immediately stop work and inform the Level III if any unsafe condition or deviation from the approved method is observed.
