A Storeman (or Storeperson) manages goods in a warehouse, handling receiving, storing, and dispatching items, involving tasks like unloading deliveries, stocktaking, organizing shelves, picking orders, operating forklifts, updating inventory records, and maintaining a clean, safe environment, often requiring physical fitness, attention to detail, and basic computer skills, with forklift licenses often essential. Key Responsibilities

- Receiving & Unloading : Accepting deliveries, checking against orders, and unloading vehicles (trucks, lorries).
- Stock Management : Organizing, labeling, and putting away stock in designated locations; performing regular stocktakes and managing inventory levels.
- Order Fulfillment : Picking, packing, and preparing goods for dispatch or collection, often using order pickers or other machinery.




- Warehouse Operations : Operating forklifts, pallet trucks, and other handling equipment; keeping the store clean, tidy, and safe.
- Documentation : Processing paperwork, updating stock systems, and reporting discrepancies or low stock.
- Production Support : Issuing materials and components to the shop floor for manufacturing.
