Key Qualifications and Requirements :

- Academic Qualifications : MD in Biochemistry, DNB in Biochemistry, or M.Sc. (Medical Biochemistry) with a Ph.D. in Medical Biochemistry.
- Teaching Experience : A minimum of 5 years as an Assistant Professor in the department of Biochemistry in a recognized medical college/institution.
- Research Publications : At least four research publications, with at least two as an Associate Professor, in indexed journals (Medline, PubMed, Scopus, etc.).
- Training : Completion of the Basic Course in Medical Education Technology (BCMET).
- Non-Medical Faculty : Non-medical teachers (M.Sc./Ph.D.) can constitute up to 30% of the department, but Heads of Departments must have a medical degree. NMC +3

Alternative Experience Paths (NMC 2025) :

- Non-teaching Specialists : A registered medical practitioner with 10 years of experience in a 220+ bedded government hospital can be eligible for the post of Associate Professor.
