. Production Manager, Copper Melting & Rolling Plant

Position Summary

Responsible for end-to-end operation of the copper melting, casting and rolling plant, converting copper scrap and zinc into sheetsand circles at target quality, recovery and cost. Will also help identify area for continuous improvement, quality enhancement, and current product development.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and run daily production across melting, casting, hot/cold rolling, annealing, pickling and finishing.
- Achieve targets for output, metal recovery, melt loss, dross, rejection rate and energy consumption per tonne.
- Manage the scrap and raw material mix, working with Purchase and Stores on grading, sampling and incoming quality.
- Set and maintain process parameters (temperature, deoxidation, casting speed, rolling reductions, annealing cycles) and SOPs.
- Run preventive maintenance of furnaces, rolling mills and auxiliaries with the maintenance team to reduce breakdowns.
- Keep a quality system for chemistry, thickness, temper, surface and dimensional tolerances against customer specifications.




- Enforce safety in molten-metal handling, PPE, fume and dust control, and statutory and environmental compliance.
- Report production, cost and yield MIS to the MD on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
- Support capacity expansion, machinery selection and process improvement projects.

Qualifications & Experience

- B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering (diploma holders with exceptional experience may be considered).
- 5+ years in non-ferrous or ferrous melting and rolling, with at least 3 years in a senior production role.
- Hands-on experience with induction or fuel-fired furnaces and rolling mills; copper or brass experience strongly preferred.

Skills

- Strong knowledge of copper metallurgy, casting defects and rolling practice
- Cost and yield analysis, and data-driven problem solving
- Leadership of a large shop-floor workforce
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and safety systems

Key Performance Indicators

Metal recovery %, rejection %, energy per tonne, on-time delivery, plant uptime, safety incidents (target zero).
