Vyr. eil. D. Held for the thirteenth time, the international cyber defence exercise Amber Mist, organised by the Armed Forces of Lithuania, brings together several hundred participants from 13 NATO and European countries, as well as civilian organisations, to practice responding to cyber threats and strengthening resilience in today’s security environment. “Yesterday was an intense day for both the students and us,” says the professor dr.dr. Agnė Brilingaitė, Head of the Department of Computer and Data Modelling at the Institute of Computer Science, Vilnius University, Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics. “The students are actively involved. The exercise gives them an insight into how information technologies are used in practice, particularly in developing specialised services that simulate critical infrastructure”. AmberMist is an exercise designed to strengthen Lithuania’s cyber defence capabilities, improve the ability to identify and counter cyberattacks, and enhance cooperation between institutions and international partners The exercise is another reminder that modern armed forces operate not only on land, in the air and at sea – cyberspace has become one of the most key domains of national and collective security.
