An ETP operator, or Environmental Treatment Plant operator, is responsible for the productive and safe operation of an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP). Their duties include:
Collecting samples: Collecting samples of air, surface, and ground water for analysis
Preparing samples: Preparing samples for shipment to external labs
Maintaining equipment: Ensuring that ETP equipment is in positive condition by following a preventive maintenance schedule
Operating the plant: Operating the ETP and ensuring it runs within budget
Troubleshooting: Troubleshooting any issues that arise in the ETP plant
Handling chemicals: Handling hazardous chemicals and maintaining dosing amounts
Maintaining records: Keeping records of the ETP, such as log sheets, instruction books, and analysis records
Ensuring safety: Ensuring that all activities are carried out safely and in compliance with safety systems
Maintaining housekeeping: Maintaining good housekeeping of the plant
