Role Description The Sr Mechanical Engineer role at Vankal Cables and Transmission Limited is a full-time, in office position based in Raipur. This role involves leading mechanical design and engineering activities for steel structures and cable-related products, including concept development, detailed design, and optimization for performance, safety, and cost. The Sr Mechanical Engineer will prepare and review CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and internal quality requirements.



Daily responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams in production, quality, and procurement, supporting installation and commissioning, and resolving technical issues on the shop floor and at project sites. The role also includes participation in R&D; initiatives, continuous improvement projects, and mentoring junior engineers to enhance engineering practices and product reliability. Qualifications
• Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with the ability to apply core mechanical principles to structural and cable-related products.
• Proficiency in Machine Design and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for modeling, detailing, and validating mechanical components and assemblies.
• Experience in Project Management, including planning, coordination, timeline tracking, and cross-functional communication for engineering and infrastructure projects.
• Background in Research and Development (R&D;), with skills in concept evaluation, prototyping, testing, and data-driven design improvements.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Experience in steel structures, transmission or railway infrastructure, or cable and conductor manufacturing is an advantage.
• Familiarity with relevant Indian and international standards, structural analysis, and manufacturing processes such as welding and galvanizing is beneficial.
• Effective communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative approach to working with operations, quality, and customer teams.
