Build a learning function that makes people better at their work and gives them the confidence to grow.
We’re looking for a hands-on L&D; professional ready to take ownership of curriculum development, training delivery and employee capability.
Goodman is a pet pharmacy and pet care retailer that has served Mumbai since 1989, through our stores and our online business, Animeal.
We have three stores and approximately 50 employees, with an ambition to reach 100 stores across India. Our teams need to guide pet parents with knowledge, empathy and sound judgement.
The challenge is substantial: varied learning needs, technical products, experienced employees and a business preparing to expand.
You’ll build the programme, earn employees’ trust and stay involved until the learning improves how they work.
If you care about helping people learn—and want greater responsibility for making that happen—this is an chance to build something that grows with you.
Key responsibilities
- Develop training programmes and learning materials for store teams, pharmacists and telecallers.
- Deliver training that strengthens product knowledge, customer service and consultative selling, so employees guide pet parents with knowledge and empathy.
- Establish onboarding, assessments and ongoing development programmes.
- Track whether learning improves employee capability and workplace performance.
- Coordinate with HR, operations and subject experts to implement and maintain training.
- Gradually extend learning to warehouse employees, managers and future team leaders.
- Develop product training for our own brands and the brands we represent exclusively, including preparing field representatives for technical discussions with veterinarians.
What we’re looking for
- 4–7 years of experience in training or learning & development.
- Experience personally creating training content and delivering it to frontline or sales teams.
- Skills in curriculum development, instructional design, facilitation and practical assessment.
- Ability to understand unfamiliar or technical products and develop accurate training with subject experts.
- Strong communication, coaching and stakeholder-management skills.
- Evidence of initiative, follow-through and improvements resulting from your training.
- Ability to train frontline employees using Hindi, Marathi and English as appropriate.
- Experience in retail training, product training, pharmacy or healthcare training is relevant. Pet-industry experience is welcome.
Preferred: Experience developing and delivering product training for sales or medical representatives.
Why join
- Own the learning function. Take responsibility for what we build, how we deliver it and whether it works. You’ll have room to propose your approach and support to implement it.
- See your work make a difference. Help employees become more knowledgeable, handle customers confidently and prepare for greater responsibility.
- Build across different learning challenges. Start with retail and customer-facing teams, then extend into product training, manager development and other business functions.
- Grow into Head of L&D.; As the business expands and you demonstrate results, there is an opportunity to build a team of trainers and lead development across the organisation.
