Description
The Country Head – China will be responsible for establishing and expanding Mesabi Metallics Advisory Private Limited’s presence in the Chinese market, focusing on Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects within the manufacturing sector. Reporting to the Global Head of Special Projects, you will develop market entry strategies, build a high‑performing local team, and ensure profitable execution of complex projects while aligning with corporate standards and sustainability goals.

Responsibilities

- Define and execute the China market entry and growth strategy for EPC manufacturing projects.
- Build, lead, and mentor a cross‑functional local team covering sales, engineering, procurement, and project management.
- Secure and manage multimillion‑dollar EPC contracts with Chinese and multinational clients.
- Oversee project lifecycle from concept through commissioning, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key government agencies, industry associations, and strategic partners.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and Mesabi’s corporate governance policies.
- Drive financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L; accountability for the China unit.




- Implement best‑practice processes and continuous improvement initiatives across all project phases.
- Represent Mesabi Metallics Advisory at industry conferences, trade shows, and client forums in China.
- Report regularly to the Global Head of Special Projects on market trends, risks, and opportunities.

Qualifications

- Minimum 12 years of experience in EPC or large‑scale manufacturing projects, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role in China.
- Proven track record of winning and delivering complex EPC contracts worth USD 50M+.
- Deep understanding of Chinese regulatory environment, construction codes, and procurement practices.
- Fluent in Mandarin and English, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong financial acumen and P&L; management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high‑performance, multicultural teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.
- Extensive network of contacts in Chinese government, industry bodies, and key client organizations.
- Strategic thinker with a results‑orientated mindset and ability to operate in a fast‑changing setting.
- Willingness to travel domestically within China and internationally as required.
