We are hiring a QA Engineer to own the quality of our underwriting automation solutions: the rules engines, data integrations, AI/ML models and workflows that help carriers and lenders make faster, more consistent underwriting decisions.

You will test that every automated decision is correct, explainable and compliant. That means validating underwriting rules and risk scores against business guidelines, checking third-party data feeds, and building automated regression suites that let us ship changes with confidence.

Responsibilties:

Underwriting logic and decisioning

- Translate underwriting guidelines, rating manuals and credit policies into test scenarios and test data.
- Validate rules-engine outcomes (approve, refer, decline), risk scores, pricing and eligibility across product lines and states.
- Test edge cases: boundary values, missing or conflicting data, manual-override and referral paths.
- Verify that every automated decision is traceable, with correct reason codes and audit trails.

Data and integrations

- Test intake of submissions and applications (APIs, ACORD forms, PDFs, broker portals) and document extraction/OCR accuracy.
- Validate integrations with third-party data sources such as credit bureaus, MVR, CLUE, property, and fraud/identity services, including timeouts and bad responses.
- Write SQL to reconcile source data, transformed data and decision outputs.

AI/ML and model validation

- Test ML and LLM-based components for accuracy,



consistency and drift against labeled benchmark sets.
- Check model outputs for bias and adverse-action explainability in line with regulatory expectations.

Automation and process

- Build and maintain automated API, UI and regression suites; run them in CI/CD.
- Run performance and load tests on high-volume quoting and decisioning flows.
- Log, triage and track defects with clear reproduction steps; join sprint ceremonies and release sign-offs.
- Partner with underwriters, product owners and developers to define acceptance criteria and UAT plans.

Your Qualifications:

- 4+ years in software QA, including 2+ years testing P&C; insurance applications.
- Working knowledge of the underwriting lifecycle: submission, data enrichment, risk assessment, pricing, referral and bind/approval.
- Hands-on experience testing rules engines or decisioning systems with large data-driven test matrices.
- Solid API testing skills (REST/JSON, SOAP/XML) with Postman, REST Assured or similar.
- Test automation in at least one language (Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript) with Selenium, Playwright or Cypress.
- Solid SQL for data validation and reconciliation.
- Experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or Jenkins) and Agile tools (Jira, TestRail, Xray or Zephyr).
- Clear writing and the confidence to challenge requirements with underwriters and product owners.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
