SDET Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled SDET Engineerwith strong expertise in API testing, automation framework development, integration testing, and quality engineering practices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of APIs and backend services across enterprise applications. This role requires close collaboration with development, product, and business teams to deliver robust and scalable solutions while driving test automation throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and driveAPI Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, and End-to-End (E2E) validationacross multiple applications and platforms.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalableAPI automation frameworksusingJava, Rest Assured, Cucumber, TestNG/JUnit, or equivalent frameworks.
- Create and execute automated API test suites covering functional, integration, regression, and negative test scenarios.
- Validate RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend services including request/response verification, schema validation, authentication, authorization, and error handling.
- Perform service-level testing using tools such asPostman, Rest Assured, Swagger/OpenAPI, Newman, or similar open-source frameworks.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, architects, and third-party vendors to ensure comprehensive API test coverage and successful delivery.
- Perform test planning, estimation, scheduling, and execution for large and complex initiatives.
- Develop and maintain automated test execution withinCI/CD pipelinesto support continuous testing practices.
- Conduct backend and database validations usingSQLandMongoDB Compass.
- Analyze application logs and troubleshoot integration issues across distributed systems and microservices.
- Support SIT, UAT, production deployments, and release validation activities.
- Manage defects, perform root cause analysis,



and track issues usingJIRAorAzure DevOps (ADO).
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Coordinate effectively with onshore and offshore teams to ensure timely delivery and quality outcomes.
- Provide regular status updates and communicate testing progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders.
- Coordinate effectively across onshore and offshore teams.
- Maintain flexibility to overlap with onsite working hours (until noon, as needed).

Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of experience inAPI Testing and API Automation is a must.
- Experience with API testing tools such asPostman, Newman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or equivalent frameworks.
- Strong understanding ofREST APIs, JSON, XML, HTTP/HTTPS protocols, OAuth, JWT, and API security concepts.
- Experience testingmicroservices-based architecturesand distributed systems.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with database validation and data integrity testing.
- Experience with source control and CI/CD tools such asGit, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
- Robust debugging and troubleshooting skills, including network and service-level analysis.
- Experience using monitoring and observability tools such asKubernetes (K8s), Kibana, Dynatrace, Splunk, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience withPlaywright or Seleniumfor UI automation testing.
- Knowledge ofNode.jsand JavaScript-based testing frameworks.
- Experience with API performance testing tools such asJMeterork6.
- Experience testing event-driven systems and messaging platforms such asKafka.
- Mobile application testing experience.
- Experience with responsive web and cross-browser validation.
- Familiarity withRetail domainapplications and business processes.

Primary Focus:60% API Automation & Backend Validation, 40% UI/E2E Testing (Automation & Manual).
