Role & responsibilities

Patient Assessment:
Conduct initial assessments of patients upon arrival in the outpatient department.
Gather medical histories, vital signs and information on the reason for the outpatient visit.

Care Planning and Implementation:
Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients based on their medical conditions, including administering medications, treatments and vaccinations as prescribed.
Provide patient education and instructions on self-care, medication management and follow-up care.

Patient Education:
Offer patients and their families information on their medical conditions, medications and treatment options.
Instruct patients on wound care, injections and any required medical procedures.

Documentation:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including assessments, medications administered and communication with the healthcare team.
Document any changes in patient condition or incidents.

Emergency Response:
Be prepared to manage medical emergencies within the outpatient department.




Administer emergency treatments and call for additional support if needed.

Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate closely with physicians, healthcare providers and other hospital staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
Communicate patient progress, changes and concerns to the healthcare team.

Resource Management:
Manage and maintain medical equipment and supplies to ensure they are readily available and properly maintained.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the outpatient department.

Required Skill Sets:
Robust clinical skills and knowledge in outpatient nursing.
Effective communication and patient education skills.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address patient needs and adapt to various outpatient conditions.
Ability to work effectively in a quick-paced outpatient setting.
