Role & responsibilities
Supervise the functioning of all clinical departments, including OPD, IPD, ICU, emergency, operation theatres, and diagnostic services.
Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, standard treatment guidelines, and hospital policies.
Monitor patient care standards, clinical outcomes, mortality and morbidity reviews, and adverse clinical events.
Coordinate with Heads of Departments (HODs) to resolve clinical and operational issues.
Ensure appropriate medical staffing and availability of essential clinical services.
Oversee daily hospital functioning and coordinate with nursing, medical, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and support services.
Monitor patient admission, discharge, referral, transfer, and bed-management processes.
Address patient complaints, grievances, and medico-administrative issues.
Ensure timely medical attention,



continuity of care, and effective communication with patients and attendants.
Coordinate emergency preparedness and disaster-management activities.
Implement and monitor quality indicators and patient-safety initiatives.
Ensure compliance with applicable NABH standards, where accreditation is pursued or maintained.
Review clinical audits, infection-control reports, sentinel events, and corrective and preventive action plans.
Promote incident reporting, root-cause analysis, and continuous quality improvement.
Monitor compliance with biomedical waste management, infection prevention, and antimicrobial stewardship policies.
